EXCITED! untill I watch my 600 lb life

Recommended Posts

I don't know why I do this to my self, I watch this show cry, get happy.. but as soon as I see them go into surgery.. or complications happen like with the two twins on the show.. the thought of backing out completely crosses my mind. '' just do low carb" I know I can't be the only one.. know I'm watching "where are they now" and all that loose skin makes the body look so in balanced and the surgery there was complications.. scary stuff ..

That show freaked me out every time too!! Keep in mind the most severe cases with the most horrible situations are on the show. Otherwise it would not be interesting.

Do you weigh close to 600lbs? Most surgeons would make you lose a hell lot of weight before performing surgery on you if you did. Weight loss surgery, even though a major surgery, is rather routine. Serious complications may occur but that is not the norm. I know someone that almost died after a tonsillectomy

I've been a yo yo dieter. Low carb, high Protein I've done so many times. It's time to end this yo-yo-ing for good & get this needed surgery. I believe that TV show only shows the extreme. Any type of surgery has a risk of complications. You just have to do what feels rights in your heart. It's scary but so many people have survived & you're healthy, no diabetes or health issues. You have a better chance of healing good because of that.

Height 5'0"

Weight for consultation: 216 lbs.

Pre-op Weight: Unknown until January 20th.

My profile picture is not me. It's my "FitSpiration" body.

I was mid 300s. Quite active physically, and mildly hypertensive.. Surgery was a breeze.

Tonight's show with Doug had me concerned for his wife. She was a bariatric patient and regained 65lbs. But as Doug began successfully loosing, she didn't seem to lose with him. I could be wrong, but it appeared that way.

They make this show to be entertaining. If they only showed stories of patients who had no issues and were very successful they would have no ratings. People watch it for the dramatic stories. Please take these stories with a grain of salt. If you are not close to that weight range you have a much lower chance of complications (though there is always a risk, this is a serious surgery that should not be taken lightly).

I started at 540 and did have some complications after surgery, I am now 8 months out and would do this surgery again in a heartbeat because it game me my life back!

Starting weight (10/29/15): 540

Surgery Weight (5/29/16): 480

Current Weight (2/1/17): 325

I was concerned about Dougs wife as well. In the beginning I wasn't concerned because she was 3 months out of having twins. I have a friend who is 3 years post VSG and was up 50 pounds after her baby but she did Keto and got the weight back off. It seemed like his wife was getting larger. Also how she was eating wasn't helping.

I actually enjoy the show, I'm no where near 600-700 pounds but I love when they are successful. It gives me hope that if they can be, so can I.

Any surgery comes with health risks. So does being morbidly obese. I think most of us were pretty scared as surgery came closer. I know I was! And while complications are most certainly possible, if you Peruse through the site you'll see that most people didn't have any or very minimal. Every body is different. Starting weight, previously existing health conditions, genetics and other factors come into play. Focus on a successful outcome instead of looking for cases in which there was some kind of failure or destruction. While those do happen, they are in a minority of cases.

And P.S. reality TV has very little to do with reality.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
