Pizza that is the ?

Recommended Posts

Yes.

Once you are healed you can eat almost anything you want. The question really will be will you even want to.

I had a few bites of pizza probably at the 5 month mark. Actual real pizza. I didn't really like it the same as before. But I have made some homemade healthier pizza at home and that went ok. I also tried the frozen cpk flatbread Margarita pizza and loaded it with veggies, meat and a bit more cheese. And then ate half of 1 piece.

We had some for dinner last night; we have some every couple months or so - we even had some at our support group meeting last year when the restaurant where we usually met closed without notice and we went to the pizza place around the corner (it's not often we run into a bariatric pizza-feed!). Get a very thin crust pizza or eat the toppings off the crust are popular solutions. During loss when calories were at a premium on the budget, I would occasionally make one at home from a thin corn tortilla crisped up in the oven then topped with the sauce, cheese, meat and veggies.

So yes, you can have pizza in the sleeve world, though like many things from our previous life, it can't be a dietary staple as it may have been in the past.

I'm a little over two months out. I've had very thin crust pizza (St. Louis Style!!!) I wanted it, I had it, I did not enjoy it. I felt fine after...no ill effects, but it didn't satisfy me in anyway. No reason for me to consider it going forward.

Yeah that's the thing about thin crust. It breaks down like crackers. I could probably eat 1/2 a thin crust pizza easy. Toppings off no restriction and thin crust doesn't either.

So the only pizza I eat is the pizza I make. When I go out for pizza with friends I get a chicken caesar salad. chicken is dense Protein and more satisfying.

I had pizza at 4 months out. I love pizza and I eat it probably at least once a week.

But you know what- I can only eat one slice.

Don't beat yourself up over a slice of pizza :)

Once your stomach has healed from surgery you will likely be able to eat most foods, though hopefully in much smaller quantities (as a result of the surgery) and less frequently (as a result of wanting the surgery to be as successful as possible). About three months after having the VSG I was craving a slice of thin crust pizza from Whole Foods, and so I bought it. I had less than half that night, and then the rest over two more meals because I kept getting fully quickly. Over time I was able to eat more, but fortunately even 15 months post-op still am satisfied with far less than I would have been prior to surgery. The last time I had pizza was in November when I was visiting family in Florida and the rain was so fierce we decided on delivery rather than getting out into it. I had two small slices, and was content. For me, having things I enjoy in reasonable portions sparingly has helped me to avoid feeling deprived and binge-eating. I definitely wouldn't try eating pizza or anything of that nature early out, though. Give your body ample time to recover, and your mind enough time to change how you approach eating.

I have not tried these being only 5 weeks post op, BUT my wife bought these little ultra thin protien pizza crust at HyVee. They are about 7" around and have 110 calories 9 carbs and 16 protien. You get 3 of them for $4 I think. My 2 kids age 7 and 9 both ate a whole one so they can't be that bad.

Golden Home is the brand name.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
