Best place in Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I found out my insurance doesn't cover surgery here in the US. So, I am planning on going to Mexico this summer. I was wanting to know if anyone has any first hand experience with a good facility in Mexico. Preferably one with the shortest flight duration (I live in FL). And if anyone did financing what was your payment plan like? Thanks!

And im sorry but what kind of insurance do you have may i ask? Im disabled and my medicare paid for mine, im 7wks out. My dr is the best to. His office follows your everyday process, he gives you his cell phone just in case after surgery you have a problem after hrs. He doesnt depend on some answering service to get calls through. Like 2wks ago, i felt horrible for days i couldnt get out the bed, my mom literally came in and out bringing me bottles of Water. Thats the only thing i could keep down. Until i was just to weak to make it and had to go to the er. My dr was on vacation but the other bariatric dr in town was on call to see his patients just in case of emergencies, so when i got to er, they already was expecting me and had a iv ready for me and everything. Of course they had to run bloodwork and do a mri to make sure nothing else wss wrong, but he's on top of things and hjs entire staff is the same way. Good luck darlin

I got my surgery done in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Surgeon was Dr. Hidalgo. He was amazing. No troubles at all. I went the sleeve route because my bmi was only 30. I'm now at bmi of 22 (142 lbs) and feel amazing!

The hospital was clean and ran smoothly. The Dr was terrific. Some of the staff didn't know English but the Dr is completely fluent and easily understood. I was alone and felt safe and well cared for from the moment the plane landed in PV until I sadly had to leave their beautiful country.

No complaints whatsoever. I was literally laying on the beach 2 days after surgery. I was walking hours after surgery. The next day it didn't even feel like I'd had surgery. Great care. I'd totally recommend this Dr.

I'm a Canadian. The flight was 5.5 hours. I was just careful to stay hydrated and walk around on the plane to ensure I didn't get a blood clot.

Don't let people scare you with warnings of Mexico. People have unfounded ideas about dirty hospitals and corrupt Dr's etc. From my experience, it's quite the opposite. Just do your research and talk to the surgeon before committing to the surgery. Good luck on your journey!

My hubby had WLS in Juarez, Mexico this last June. He went thru BELITEWEIGHTLOSS. We didn't have very good experience there. The Hospital wasn't very clean, the nurses didn't wash their hands. Only 1 nurse used Hand sanitizer. The Dr seemed great but he did back to back Surgeries the whole day. He was just leaving the Hospital at 10:30 that night. He told me to wait in our room and he would come let me know how he was. He never came by. His surgery went quite longer than they thought. He was supposed to get the RNY but his whole right side was solid scar tissue, so he had the Sleeve instead. The pain meds they gave him weren't even as good as an aspirin. We were supposed to have a suite but I slept on a hard window seat. I had to ask for bedding. The language barrier was really hard to accomplish. It wasn't a good experience. Since we have heard great things about other sites. Good Luck, but check things out before you make your decision. I am not telling you this to scare you, I just want you to make an informed decision.

I went through Trinity Medical in Tijuana. Excellent experience. They treated my wife and I with dignity and respect. If you want to know more shoot me a message.

I went with a lighter me this past July. Dr Ortiz was my surgeon. One of the best medical experiences of my life. Honestly it kinda felt like a vacation. There's a website and Facebook page that you can get info from. My total surgery cost was$4700. That covered everything exvept my flight from MO. I had to pay a $500 deposit to secure my date. But financed the total surgery cost through one of their recommended companies. Depends on credit honestly. Fees were kinda high. If you have better credit than I did, maybe bank or credit union financing would be a better option. My loan is no interest if paid in 12 months though. Anyway... Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
