I'm having my surgery (Sleeve) Oct 26 yaay!! .. I went to see my cardiologist and I told me the Bypass has better results and you have better chance to keep it off for a long time. Should I change it to a bypass?

I would consult with the surgeon about this rather than the cardiologist. I know there's not the number of long term studies about the sleeve because the bypass has been around longer from what I understand. I know one person who has had the sleeve has done amazingly. All the bypass people I know had significant re-gain. I know it really depends upon the individual though and how s/he uses their tool.

I choose Bypass because I need to lose 120+ it is what my surgeon and I decided on based off of my eating my eating habits and wanting to keep the weight off. You can most defiantly has success with both. I've seen it happen with both surgeries! I do agree that you need to talk to your surgeon not really the cardiologist.

i think the cardiologist knows zero about bariatric surgery.

Its what is right for you. I didnt want to have a rerouting of my insides. So i went VSG and i had a lot more than 120 pounds to lose, i lost 240+ pounds, with the vsg and have kept it all off. you can do it either way, personally i felt that being able to eat normally if i wanted to , even with horrible side effects of dumping etc, seemed, like a chance i couldnt take, if there is a workaround i was likely to take it, It seemed a lot harder for me to cheat on a VSG than it did on a bypass, so i went with the VSG, but that may not be the case to you. Also recovery seemed easier for a VSG than a bypass. by those are MY reasons, you would have your own.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
