I'm getting sleeved tomorrow and it hurts when the ones who was supporting you now that it's coming they acting funny. Not showing support and now talking negative telling me I won't look right being thin etc. Even have me second guessing myself now. :(

Don't listen to them.

It sounds like they don't know how to deal with change. That is on them.

You have made the decision that is right for you.

Best of luck with your surgery.

Now the person who was taking me being my backbone etc all of a sudden can't take me. Saying they can't take off work like really?! So I said sounds like you not being supportive and he says You don't need it.

Been knowing about this for months I'm really sad right now.

I hope you can find someone else to take you or the very least call a car service. You only need a family/friend to pick you up and take you home.

Maybe they are worried about you and can't express their feelings so they are instead pushing you away. Call them out on it - let them know that you are hurt, disappointed and really need their support. Change is difficult for many. They may be afraid of you changing and what that'll mean for your relationship. Communicate - be honest and explain why you are having this surgery.

Don't base your decisions off of other people. My family has told me that I'm taking the easy way out, that I'll gain it back, I've lost weight before and can do it again, etc. Now that they know I'm set on it, they're starting to be supportive. Only you know what's best for you. Although I'm new to this whole thing, I would suggest you find a good support group afterwards for encouragement along the way. Good luck tomorrow!

@@SoExcited101, I'm making a few wild guesses here.

The person who was going to take you to the hospital is obese and is jealous of you.

- or -

He's your boyfriend or husband and is afraid that, once you lose weight, you won't want him.

- or -

Both.

The truth is that you don't need anyone to take you. You'll be busy with the hospital staff to fill out medical records and get ready for the operation itself. When it's time to leave the hospital, you'll want someone to take you home. Arrange that as quickly as you can. It doesn't have to be someone close to you, either. Maybe a neighbor can help out?

Don't worry about the person who disappointed you now. You have more important things to think about.

I'm sorry this is happening right before your surgery. Even if you don't need it, you want the people you love to support you and at least be there for you during this time. I was very vulnerable prior to surgery. I was busy prepping and planning and the last thing I needed was to worry about was someone in their feelings about a decision I made. Anyways it will get better. Don't second guess yourself. You've come too far. People may act different towards you once you start losing weight it's part of the process. If they can't respect your journey, they don't need to be part of your success. Prayers for a successful procedure.

To new beginnings!

Ask yourself, "Who am I having this surgery for? --for "them" or for "me"? "

It's tough and it's disappointing to find out such nonsupport at this time, but you HAVE to be strong enough to have this surgery FOR YOU, and YOU ALONE.

Will your "friend" come around? Who knows? Whether that person is who you consider a "friend" that you want in your life is a decision for another day.

For tomorrow? GO FORWARD, my friend. FOREVER---FORWARD.

It's your life! Do you girl! Get a taxi, uber, Lyft... Whatever you gotta do to make it there and make yourself happy. Even if you just wanted to have the procedure for vanity and not so much health it is YOUR choice. Whatever you do, whether you go through it or not, do it for you. You are most certainly worth it!

A person who withdraws their support at the last minute is not a friend and certainly does not have your best interest or health on their mind do not allow anyone to decide for you what's best for you or what you do or don't " need" in their opinion I've found that sometimes you can only count on yourself taxi uber car service etc whatever works I was sleeved I was perfectly able to get to and leave the hospital on my own the hospital wouldn't allow me to drive away on my own I had to be picked up don't let this small thing block your path.... And keep in mind those that weren't their in your time of need and had the nerve to say they are your friend...

I've been dealing with this, too. But not from family or friends; from a co-worker. She was being so negative around me and even telling me I would fail! I found out she's actually jealous that I got the surgery because she's over 300 pounds and is too scared to get it.

Don't let them get you down. You are doing this for you, not them. Us on the forum support you! You go, girl!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
