5 or 10 Day Pouch Reset

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried the 5 or 10 day pouch reset? Essentially it is the below, and is supposed to mimic the first few weeks after the surgery to reset the pouch and get you back on track, but on a smaller scale.

Days 1 & 2: liquid Protein
low-carb Protein shakes, broth, clear or cream Soups, sugar-free Gelatin and pudding.

Day 3: Soft Protein
canned fish (tuna or salmon) eggs, fresh soft fish (tilapia, sole, etc)

Day 4: Firm Protein
ground meat (turkey, beef, chicken, lamb), shellfish, scallops, lobster, fresh salmon or halibut.

Day 5: Solid Protein
white meat poultry, beef steak, pork, lamb, wild game

Or 10 day - which is same concept spread out. [Day 1 - Clear liquids only. Day 2 and 3 Full liquids. Day 4 to 6 pureed foods. Day 7 to 9 Soft foods.

Day 10 and Beyond Normal diet]
I need to get back on track with losing, portion size control, no snacking, etc. so I was wondering if anyone did this and if so, if it worked.
Thanks!

I can see how following that plan would help getting back on track, but what do you mean by pouch reset? Sleeves don't have a pouch. I must have missed something.

I prefer the five day meat test. Eat all meat and animal products for five days, no processed meats though. If you want to feel restriction and really cut back on your caloric intake, the five day meat test is the way to go.

Alternately, restrict yourself to meat and green veggies only, to add a little Fiber in.

I mean the sleeve, some call it a pouch on google but you get the point! Essentially just a stomach reset lol

I just came off the 10 day pouch reset diet featured on http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-pouch-reset-losing-weight-after-weight-regain/

I followed it to a tee, I did not waiver on anything or go off track. While weight loss is not the intention of the diet, I did lose 4 pounds. There is a lot of controversy as to whether this works. I do believe it worked for me. At lunch yesterday, my meal was supposed 1 cup Soup and 5 broccoli spears. At 3 broccoli spears and 1/4 of the soup, I could feel the sensation of fullness. Last month I would have pushed through and finished it. But the feeling of fullness was much stronger than it has been in a long time. I plan to continue eating 3 meals and 2 Snacks, and lots of liquids. My portions are going to go back to the size of my palm - Protein and veggies. And limit starches. Hope it works as well for anyone else who wants to try it!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
