A coworker sent me home with a bag of jeans that were too small for her.....I just tried on and fit comfortably into a pair of size 8 jeans!

I may have cried.

Question for runners or anyone post plastics.....

Do you think I could reasonably run a 10k Saturday followed by a half marathon Sunday 2 months after my Tummy Tuck and implants? Is that enough time to recover enough to run again?

Disney challenge?

Anyhow I would say sorry but no. I had tummy tuck, Breast lift w implants and arm lift.

My doc didn't want me to run AT ALL for six weeks post op and didn't actually clear me to run until week 7. And I recovered faster than most. So at best that would leave you only six weeks to get back up to half marathon shape.

I couldn't have done it and I ran a full marathon a week before plastics and has been running a half marathon race each month up until then.

Part of it is even if you are feeling up to it, you don't want to put any stress/pulling on the scars while they heal if you want the best possible outcome there. The other part, this is MAJOR surgery. Recovery is much harder and much longer than recovery from the WLS or a Csection or anything.

Yea after sleeping on it and trying to be rational.....I'm gonna have to wait. I'm doing a half in November and will maybe attempt the Star Wars challenge in April. :)

You will be glad you waited! I had my plastics in early June last year and was up to a half in October and that was pushing it!

Trying to talk my family into the Star Wars one in April! We did the Labor Day one in 2014... Pricey but so much fun! Do you live local? We don't so we have to do the whole hotel thing. My daughter starts school down in the area in the fall... Maybe I could crash j. Her dorm room!

I did the inaugural Star Wars half last April and it was amazing! I def recommend staying at a Disney resort and using the transportation they provide race day if you do a Disney race. You have to be in your corrals crazy early and a lot of roads close for the course. :)

We stayed at an offsite hotel when we did the last one--not Star Wars just the Disneyland race weekend over Labor Day. The rates were just insane on site. We were on the shuttle route and took that in the morning and walked back to the hotel after.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
