Don't waste your money

I had my sleeve op in Aug last year and have steadily and consistently lost weight, although it has slowed over the last couple of months. I never had any particular goal in mind and was just happy to lose ANY weight. I was previously size UK 18-20. So when I reached size 14 (a size I haven't been for a very long time) I went out and had a huge spending spree on new clothes, some of them better quality (ie more expensive) than I normally buy. I was SO happy!

A couple of months on and they are now all too big! So my advice is: Make do with less/cheaper clothes until you are at least a year post-op and your weight has well and truly settled

Good luck to everyone with their journey!

haha true dat. everytime i go down a size i buy like ONE pair of work slacks and then make due with the other couple sizes up until they are droopy on me. if i put them in the dryer for a long time they tighten up a bit so i can wear a 12 and 10 and 8 right now. the 14s are starting to sag but imma keep them as long as i can lol. congrats!

I kind of do this anyway. I'm not one to spend big bucks on clothes. I have never in my life owned a pair of jeans that cost more than $30 or a pair of shoes that cost more than $40. Even though plus size clothes tend to be super expensive I would always just search the clearance items and try to stack coupons. I don't get how people spend so much on clothes

I buy whatever I want. I don't cut corners on my bras. The only thing I do make sure of is that if I buy something that I plan on wearing it within a week or 2, or I buy it a size smaller than I fit.

Life is too short for cheap clothes. I'm not going to punish myself for losing weight quickly. I battle with head hunger all the time. Winning that battle, I deserve whatever I want.

Don't sell yourself short just because you are winning at weight loss.

It's nice you are able to afford that! Wish I could!

Something that worked for me was to purchase at second hand stores and stores like TJMaxx and Marshalls. I've gotten really high quality stuff barely used or even new at second hand stores very cheaply.

I loved finding some good consignment stores. I love shopping them knowing it's less money and good brands, and they are thrilled to receive plus sized clothing for their stock. Since I lost fairly quickly those middle sizes didn't get much wear either.

I wore a size 32/34 when I had surgery but had everything between size 22-34 in my closet. I was surprised how quickly I blew through those clothes even when the scale wasn't moving. I do a lot of clearance sale shopping at department stores as I'm still too large size wise to find much variety in thrift shops.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
