Rant: Rude people!

Recommended Posts

I've always hated buying jeans or pants because they never fit right. I have a wide waistline that was totally out of proportion to my thighs and hips. I would buy stretchy fabric pants with elastic waist or leggings. They have been perfect for my weight loss because they just Shrink to the size I currently am wearing and they don't look baggy as I'm losing weight. You can get them that looked just like jeans or real pants. I love wearing them and they are so comfortable.

Yes, the server was out of line. The good news is that you won't have to see that person again.

The real issue to me would have been whether I'm fit for human consumption, i.e., ready to leave the house. I need to feel that I'm ready for anything; there's no way of knowing who I may run in to. Clothes that fit decently, shoes in good condition, and all the rest are part of the package that does it for me. During weight-loss phase, I buy less than I do ordinarily at retail. Thrift shops and clothing exchanges are great options, but if they yield too little at any particular visit, I''ll go full price just to feel civilized.

I'm not post-op yet, but for the past month or more I've switched to skirts. They are just so much more comfortable in comparison to pants with a belt. The downside is that I have to shave more. :P

The last time I had a big loss of weight. My body was changing so fast that I went to the thrift stores for jeans and tops while I was transitioning they have some really cute things there some are even designer jeans. If you have never tried a thrift store before I promise you will find it a good tool while you are shrinking. I have gotten nice jeans for 3 and $4 and tops for a dollar ninety-nine.

Good luck on your journey ♡

I am in the same boat, my pants are falling off me but can't quite fit into the smaller jeans I have yet. Well, I can get them on, but they look like leggings and are tight. I was having to walk around with one hand on my waistband at all times. We are low-income, so I can't afford to be buying new pants every time I drop a size. Also, my pants have an elastic waist with no belt loops, so belts were out.

Here's what I did: I bought a cheap set of suspenders from the thrift store. They were only $3 and I wear them under my shirt, so you can't see them at all. When I can fit my smaller pants, I'll switch and use them until I have to break out the suspenders again lol. Hopefully, I can minimize how often I have to buy new clothes until I reach my goal weight.

If you sew and have a sewing machine, make two vertical slits in the back of your pants waistband centered and about eight inches apart. Put a piece of elastic through it and then sew it into place, making sure you close the slits fully.

I guess I'm an a*****e but it's just as rude to let your pants fall off your butt as it is for someone to comment on it. I get jeans for less than $20 at Ross, and with coupons I can do the same thing at Macys. Belts are cheap too.

I don't think people who are out to eat should be subjected to seeing your button because you are trying to save money. There are so many cheap options to prevent this.

I think the problem here is you are inbetween sizes, and you can't win. The 22/24 size is too big, but the next size down, the 20, is still too snug. I get it. Right now my 18/20 size are getting big and baggy, but I'm still too full for 14/16. Ugh. I have a few different lower sizes I saved when I felt that I might get the WLS. Glad I did so I don't have to run out and find pants to wear. Have you considered some capri's (now that the weather is getting warmer) that are stretch waist? Those last a big longer than actual button and zip pants.

Good Luck!

@@needtorecover,

All you can do is laugh at these things. I mean, you can get angry, but it won’t do much good. Just try to be grateful that you’re in this situation.

Of course, if you do tell someone you need $70 for a new pair of pants and they give it to you, that sounds like a nice idea, too. :)

Thanks for the warning! Just the thought of having my pants retreat to around my ankles is terrifying. I'm pretty sure the experience would keep me at home even more than now. In preparation, I'm going to dust off my sewing machine and happily contemplate the day I can begin taking in the clothes that I'm wearing now, pre-surgery. I'm at the very start of this process and finding this forum helps me handle the fear I wasn't anticipating.

There will always be rude people with big mouths. How they must crave any sort of attention. Even to the point of almost everyone in a crowd thinking they're ignorant dickheads. I try hard to ignore these rude sorts. It doesn't shut them up but at least they don't get any more material for their obnoxious monologues. I hope someday they get to experience the other side of that coin. Oh to be a fly on the wall the day they are the object of public ridicule...

We reap what we sow... rest assured they will get theirs eventually. Just saying... :P

If you do buy something new, look for pants with a drawstring.

I love Ross ... And i became a fan of maxi skits / dresses and the wonderful yoga pants / capris and jeggings. I always hated belts and refused to start wearing one just because my pants were to big so i would also have my work pants tailored to fit as i was shrinking.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
