That's awesome about your race, what an inspiration!!

I saw the nut this afternoon. She told me that I shouldn't do anything too drastic because it's common for people to lose and then gain 10 pounds or so before they are settled in without making and significant changes in diet.

She did recommend that I increase my calories to 2000-2400 mostly by adding fats to my diet (higher fat yogurt, oils, nut butters, olives, avocado, etc) and monitor for a couple months.

If I'm still losing then we'll probably do some blood work to check for thyroid issues and go from there.

2400 calories, I can't even imagine getting that many. I struggle getting 1500 a day so far. How far post op are you? I'm 6 months

My surgery was August, so I'm 8 months. The only way I can do 1500-1700 right now is by eating every 2-3 hours. I'm going to struggle as well - but when I think about it I could do a shake made with milk and add in some Peanut Butter and that's around 400 calories right there. I've tried to eat real food instead of shakes, but maybe I'll have to add a shake back in for a while in order to get there.

Glad to hear it! I expected they'd tell you you were doing fine.

For what it's worth, I don't count calories but I'm sure they're pretty high. I eat lots of meat, yogurt, guacamole, nuts, Jerky, and cheese. And veggies when I have room. My fat calories must be off the charts, but my weight has remained steady within a 3-4 pound range for a year now. No starches or sugar is my mantra. Good luck in maintenance, just keep on keeping on...

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
