I'm ending day 4 today and realize the only pain I have left now is located in the stomach organ area while walking, laying down and sitting up. It is a sharp pulling feeling.

Is this normal for sleeve patients?

I have the same pain. My doctor said it's totally normal and referred to as pain from the 'big stitch' used to close the opening through which your stomach was removed. I was sleeved Tuesday!

I'll be 2 weeks out this Wednesday and I totally have that same annoying pulling. It gets painful when I have been walking too long, or getting up from a sitting position to much. I wish this shit hurry up and heal! I'm Florida bound this Thursday and I aint got time for this.

I have the same stitch pain on my right side. Dr said its from internal stitches. My dr said the stitches used will dissolve in 6 weeks and should be barely felt at 4 weeks. I'm two weeks and two days and it has gotten better, but still can't bend down to pick up anything or put my socks on. Hurts when standing up etc. luckily everything else is going well and I feel good otherwise. Also, a compression tank top has helped a lot.

I am so grateful for these posts!!!! I have been having pain on my right side and was worried that it was my gall bladder. I did a little searching and it seems that this happens frequently. I'm okay laying down but when I sit upright or bend over I feel a sharp pain in my side.

I am almost 3 weeks (in 2 days) post-surgery and have been feeling great until a couple of days ago.

Hope the rest of you feel better soon!!!!!!!

I think it can occur on either side. But when in doubt or just to be safe, call your surgeons office. That is what they are there for. It helps for peace of mind to call too.

I'm 18 days out and still having this pain, and mine is on the left side as well. If I cough or sneeze I would have to say it's the worst pain ever. Dr said its normal and should only last another 1-2 more weeks. I was planning on returning to work tomorrow, but there is no way. Getting up from a sitting position is so painful and if I sneezed at work I might involuntarily scream from the pain and I can't do that.

Is anyone out there past this pain? I'm at wits end with it

My doctor said it was normal to have pain on the left side because I am having the same pain at times and he told me that it was my biggest incision on that side so the pain is going to linger longer on that side.

I'm 18 days post op today and yesterday was the first day that I felt almost normal. It still is lingering a bit and my abdomen is tight but not that sharp stabbing pain so much anymore. I sneezed last night and as I felt it coming I was nervous but it didn't hurt as much as it had every other time. So I think I'm almost past it. Best of luck to you.

I am 4 days out and I have the "tugging" feeling on my left side. I still have my drain tube in, and it's on my left side, so I sort of contributed the tugging feeling to that.

I have another question though, I read that I was going to have strange feelings after surgery, rolling and tumbling and such, and that I would get used to it. However, after I eat, I have a strange feeling. It's like the "empty" feeling I would get before when I was hungry, however I know that I cannot be hungry or empty. I know that I have to get adjusted to the new feelings and such, but this is so odd to me. Has anyone else had any of these feelings or can tell me what it is?

Feeling really discouraged this morning with the amount of pain I'm in due to the 'big stitch'. It's trumped everything else these past four days. Sleeved on 4/14

It's nearly unbearable. Right now it's painful without using my right side or right leg. My right leg has felt pretty useless because if I lift it to put on socks or pants, the pain in my abs is unbearable. I want to get off the tramadol so my system will get back to normal and I don't feel drugged, but I'm not coherent with all this pain, either.

The "big stitch" on the left side is where they removed your stomach. Out of that rather small incision they pulled that large part of your removed stomach. It will ease after a few weeks. Hang in there.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
