I have been sleeved for 4 months now and for the last couple of weeks I have been at a stall since I started exercising. I know its muscles but it is still so aggravating not seeing my scales move!!! I had to get serious with my exercise because at my last dr visit I was told I was losing muscle and that is the last thing I need to worry about is looking like 1/2 my face has fell off. I hope this stall leaves soon. Anyone else having this problem.

Thanks.

What kind of exercise are you doing? There are certain types that help more with weight loss than others. Are you doing straight cardio, or are you mixing things up with cardio and strength training?

Google HIIT training. It's specifically done to maximize weight loss while building muscle.

I am walking every day and zumba 3 times a week.

You may want to try eating more. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it helped me break a stall. I was only eating around 700 calories a day, and burning about 1,000 during my workouts. My Nut said to go up to 1000 calories and include more good carbs. It helped me for quite awhile, but unfortunately I'm in a two week stall right now.

any time I have a stall, I usually see the inches come off. I continue exercising and push fluids and the scale does move again. I will get so frustrated during stalls and then suddenly my pants are looser or I am in smaller clothes and then I'm happy again! It's all normal, but still frustrating when it is happening.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. If you intend on losing a significant amount of weight you will stall periodically.

That said, if you are concerned, talk with your NUT. You MAY actually need to eat more to support your increased exercise.

Embrace the Stall!

Muscle weighs more than fat.

Your scale might not be moving but you lose inches at times the scale don't move.

Muscle is denser than fat and takes up less room but a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. I do agree, however, that inches may be lost when pounds are not.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
