So I will be attending a bachelorette party in a few weeks... I'm planning on taking Protein Bars in case the restaurants we go to don't have anything healthy and what not. What else can I pack for food as a just in case?

My advice -- stay away from Protein bars, they are high carb and tend to trigger cravings for a lot of people. Instead, bring packets of flavored tuna and salmon, all kinds of Jerky, and cans of sardines, oysters, etc.

I usually pack beef Jerky and Protein shakes when I travel for work. I don't drink Protein Shakes regularly anymore but they make a convenient Breakfast so I don't have to eat every meal at a restaurant.

90% of the time, I can find something healthy on the menu or order something the way I want it.

Have fun at the party!

I am almost 6 weeks out and went to a concert and stayed overnight in a hotel. I took a little cooler with Protein Drinks, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. However I did find some reasonable options at the restaurants. So used my extras for Breakfast and Snacks.< /p>

You can't fly with yogurt, but there are things like muscle milk you can find anywhere. Protein powder is a must. You can almost always find steak, unbreaded chicken to eat. It's not impossible, it just requires some thought.

I went out to a brunch 4 weeks after surgery and had a cup of bisque I sipped on. Maybe Soup is an option!

I actually went on a cruise (planned way in advance) THE DAY I went on solids at 4 weeks out. I took it easy and was able to find plenty that worked for me. It depends on how long you will be going and what the environment will be like.

I've never been to a restaurant that didn't have something I can eat. Most anyplace can grill you up a burger or chicken breast. I've even found stuff at bars, football games and concerts. I wouldn't worry too much about it....just have fun.

I went on a business trip to Vegas once with a colleague that was too cheap to pay for a meal in a restaurant. She took those foil packages of premade tuna salad with her everywhere. They were handy, fit in her purse and easy to eat. I just sat at the far end of the table and pretended I didn't know her.

Not all Protein Bars are high carb. You just have to do your research. Some people do seem to have trouble controlling their use of Protein bars, but certainly not all. I have protein bars daily and don't have any issues managing my weight or my intake. I've been maintaining for over 5 months now and was losing to goal before that, eating protein bars every single day since the day I was cleared for solid foods.

I usually do Protein bars when I'm busy for work or when I just don't feel like cooking. Maybe once a week so I don't over indulge.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
