"Dog Ear" After Tummy Tuck?

Recommended Posts

So I'm about 7 months post op on a Tummy Tuck & panni. My scar healed up really nicely, but today I noticed what's surgeon calls a "dog ear" on one side of the incision. Sorry not sure what the actual medical term is. I definitely am getting it fixed

My questions...

1. If you experienced this, what exactly did your surgeon have to do to fix it?

2. Did your insurance cover something like that (my insurance deemed my TT medically necessary & covered all of it.) IF NO, about how much was the correction?

Hello:

My surgeon fixed mine for free. She just shot it up with some novacain and cut it off and then put some steri-strips on it. Looked great after it healed. I only had one.

They shouldn't charge you for this.

That sounds painful! But good to know they didn't charge you

This should be fixed for free...it's a quick fix. They inject the area with Lidocaine, snip it off, suture it up, and you're good to go.

That is associated with the typical Tummy Tuck. If you had gotten the 360 then it would not have been an issue. If any one can afford it, go with the 360 as most seem far more happier with the results than compared to a standard tummy tuck.

I'm very pleased with the results other than this & it seems pretty minor.

Thanks for the info everyone

I'm thrilled with my Tummy Tuck and didn't need or want the 360. I too have a dog ear on one side and my doc is going to fix it free of charge...I would think yours would too, it's basically fixing their original surgery (they can't always control how it heals but it's their work they are standing behind so they fix it).

He said he would do it under local anesthesia in the office. I'm having it done next month.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
