So I'm confused. I thought with the sleeve surgery, the part of the stomach with the hunger hormone was removed. I get our stomachs heal and eventually we can hold more food but why are people getting hungrier. I'm never truly hungry at 7 months out. I might feel tired so I need to eat and I still struggle with grazing but when it comes down to it, I'm not truly hungry.

I think eventually the sleeve will produce some grehlin, but I'm sure most of it is head hunger

I'm 5 months out and mostly what I experience is head hunger. I only have real hunger usually before its meal time anyway. But I am post menopausal and I suspect hormones play a role in true hunger.

I get hungry when I truly need to eat. Just not ravenously hungry. I also know when I am consistently hungry it is time to up my calories. I am also post menopausal and work out 5 - 6 days a week.

I ask my Dr. about this. The portion of the stomach removed produces most of the grehlin, hormone is still produced in the body, just not as much. He also said everyone is different as when you remove one hormone it affects other hormones in the body.

I am battling with hunger every single day. Yes, much is head hunger and my old pre-surgery cravings are back with a vengeance. But I do honestly feel hungry at least once a day.

Talk to my NUT and RN at surgeon's and it is the same story - not enough Protein and Water each day.

I've lost 55lbs (surgery was 5/26) and feel awesome. But have started feeling sad that the losing has slowed down so much.

I get hungry all the time and it's not from lack of Protein or Water. It's not head hinge either. I am just dang hungry I am 14 months post op. I have been hungry for about 6 months. I didn't really experience hunger before

My surgery because I was always eating. Lol. Now I eat at regular times but I do get hungry.

I was sleeved on 6-15, everyday right before lunch I get hungry and then I don't eat much for lunch maybe 10-12 bites then I am full, then again about 2:30, 3- I get hungry. At dinner I am never hungry and I have to remember to eat. It is funny how our bodies work. I have lost 60 1/2 lbs but now it is a struggle to lose a pound a week!!! I am feeling your frustration here to!!! I get on the scale every day and I probably should not but I have hit a stall for about 2 weeks and I just started making my self walk more, but it hasn't really changed anything!! So now I am going to give the scales a few days break before climbing on them. Hope this shows you, you are not alone!!

I get very hungry. It is not head-hunger. It is growling in the stomach hunger. The Doc and the NUT think it is a very acidy stomach that I have always had. It's not as bad as before surgery and I can tolerate it pretty well but I take Omeprazole to help control it. Right now it is 2:30pm, had a pretty big lunch but my stomach is growling and rumbling. I'll go eat a mandarin orange and maybe some cheese and that should take care of it but :::sigh::: I had hoped it wouldn't happen for me. C'est la vie!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
