Strange Info from NUT re: Carbs

Recommended Posts

Some people say not to weigh yourself weekly because it can cause a lot of stress. Plus lots of people say that we should not be so focused on the number, I have a very hard time with that. The number matters to me! If you want to weigh yourself weekly, then go ahead, just remember not every week will be the same and sometimes you may be disappointed. I am going through that right now.

I also didn't pay attention to carbs and looking at MyFitnessPal I easily get in 100+ a day. In my past experience I could lose weight without carbs but the second I ate them again I gained it all back, so I decided that any change of lifestyle for me had to include a decent amount of carbs because I wasn't giving them up for life. I lost more slowly than a lot of people, but I'm now at goal and have been for about 5 months and I eat a ton of carbs.

My instructions are to weigh once a week until I meet goal because we will obsess and get depressed with every little fluctuation. Once goal is reached, then I'm to weigh almost daily to keep myself in check. Your post is exactly why my surgeon and Nut says not to weigh that often in the losing phase. We allow our emotions and moods to be controlled by the scale. Concentrate on NSV!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
