Some times it's the "small" things.......

Recommended Posts

Some times it's in the "small" things. Today I wasn't prepared so it was a lunch on the run for me which meant stopping at a convience store to find something to eat. I ended up with 2 cheese sticks and a strawberry bowl. I had waited way too long to eat so once I started it was like I was full on the first bite. (I know better then to wait that long), Any way, I finished my cheese and moved onto the strawberries. I was only able to eat three and my band was like no more so I stopped. Later this afternoon I was feeling like I needed something to munch on because my head was telling me hey you didn't eat much for lunch, you need something else, so I went on break and made my way down to the vending machine (I NEVER do this). By the time I made it to the vending machine I was having a battle with myself. My head was telling me I needed that bag of chips but my stomach was saying no, you're full, so I stood there in a daze looking and fighting internally and after a few minutes I walked away with NOTHING. Instead I got some tea and after about 3 drinks I realized my stomach was right, I wasn't hungry. I was able to block out that voice in my head and instead I chose to listen to my band. Yes, this is a "small" victory BUT they all add up and they all COUNT. Never discount any accomplish you make no matter how "small" you think it is. These "small" steps turn into HUGE strides.

uh uh....not a small victory at all. This is a huge victory because it's a change in behavior..which is the hardest part of this journey.

Whenever something like that happens to me I wonder, is that how naturally thin people behave? Seems like it, no?

Thanks for the uplifting post. I've missed your presence here. Glad you're back.

That's wonderful and made me feel better about thinking I was alone when I felt the same, I was sleeved on June 10th and up until last week had to rely on my stomach telling me to stop, I couldn't trust my head, it hadn't caught up yet, it's gotten easier to gauge now and my head actually tells me to stop after 3-4ozs, I also taught myself to grab a drink in between meals when I think I'm hungry especially at work, it is a hospital but hardly healthy, especially with nurses and doctors always dropping off goodies, just yesterday my supervisor said we were having our meeting next week and asked what I wanted, I said Deli sandwiches since I can have probably a quarter piece, keep on going it gets easier.....

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
