That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! I am 47 and I wished my insurance would have paid for it 12 years ago so that I could have enjoyed life a lot more. I missed doing the little things like crossing my legs, getting up and down with my grandkids, not wearing bathing suit in public or shorts.... the list goes on. There are many many surgeons that perform this type of surgery and I would not waste another day on this physician. I only wished I had done this years ago. I have now lost 75lbs and I feel AMAZING!!! I never get tired of hearing how great I look. I love going places again with my husband. Good luck and enjoy life!

I would see another doctor. Seriously. I'm 43 and sooo wish I had listened to my primary when he started mentioning surgery back 10 years ago. But I had to hit my rock bottom first. And FYI, my surgeon's team doesn't really even do the band anymore because of the long term complications.

I feel most reputable doctor aren't doing lapband anymore... Some doctor have a relationship with the lapband companies and your going to have it filled/ unfilled makes you a source of cash for years to come... Please please find another doctor whose has a patience centered focus ...

This doctor sounds like he is very uneducated...

If you have the sleeve you can have a revision to bypass!!

If he doesn't know that basic information i would not trust him to cut off 80% of my stomach.

Because you are getting a large portion cut out.. i would not use him.. he obviously has not had much experience with the sleeve.

The surgeon needs to cut the right size for your stomach and get the curvature correct...otherwise there can be difficulties with eating later... i don't believe this surgeon would understand this stuff if he is inexperienced.

For your own health, get a second opinion! This dude sounds like a quack!

I know a 21 year old who was sleeved. Your doctor sounds biased for some hidden agenda, what, who knows.

Consider speaking with other doctors and consider researching more on your own, too.

It alarms me your doctor is telling you this. And worse, that he assumes you cannot keep the weight off or cultivate a healthier lifestyle to keep the weight off. Very negative, and IMO, bad doctor.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, it just concerns me for you.

That's absurd, I would not want him cutting nothing out of me for one HE DOES NOT SOUND CONFIDENT in doing the sleeve, red flag, second there's alot of us sleevers in our 20's and even teens my doctor never mentioned age.. I even brought age up in support group.. they said age has no nothing to do with SURGERY so he sounds like a quack

[emoji813]2017 could it be, a new me? yaaaass please![emoji813]

My Dr mentioned to me that it can sometimes be harder on us younger folks, because we will have to follow the rules longer. If someone has it done at 65, vs me at 45, in theory I have 20 more years that I have to follow the rules.

He didn't advise against it, he just said its something to think about.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
