Who did you decide on using?

It depends on what procedure. Breast augmentation and reduction seem to be faster recoveries. However, from what I have read and heard from others, the recovery for things like the Tummy Tuck, lower body lift or thigh lift can range anywhere from 4-6 weeks before you are comfortable enough to return to work. Some, whom have sitting jobs, have claimed to have returned after 3 weeks. It is a full 3 months to complete recovery, and about 6 months to see final results due to continued swelling. Again, my plastics are not until June 9th, but this is from my doctor and from reading others personal experiences. Total cost for my surgery--which includes the lower body lift, tummy tuck, spiral thigh lift and breast augmentation--is $21k. This includes doctor fees, hospital fees, care facility 3 day/2 night post-op care, and all post-op visits. My doctor has 25 years experience, 15 years specializing in post massive weight loss surgery. It is imperative that you find a doctor that is experienced in post massive weight loss. Our body and skin is not like somebody seeking a mommy makeover.

He did an awesome job on your butt lift. But how in the world did he get so much improvement in your thighs without doing a thigh lift? The backs and inner thighs in the after photo look vastly improved!!!

I also had the BBL where he took the attached back flaps (the love handles) that were still attached to the blood source and inserted them into the butt...He also did the groin thigh lift which turned out not to be enough to fix my thighs. Then over the course of the year as the butt implants settled deep into the butt, they started to push on the already too large saddle bags. So now I pretty much look deformed with smaller hips (thanks to the LBL) then the huge saddle bags...IT turns out I did not get any Lipo to the saddle bags due to my age being over 50. So Dr Fisher who determines your ability for surgery to your physical being rather than your number age, will be doing the long thigh lift as well as the lipo to the saddle bags!

@@My Bariatric Life, I am going with Dr. Peter Fisher from San Antonio. He has 25 years experience in the field and 15 years specializing in post massive weight loss corrective surgery. I think it is so important to go with a doctor who is experienced with MWL patients because it takes a different set skills to work with our bodies. I am--at this point--extremely happy with him. I like what I have seen of his work, he has a great reputation, comes highly recommended, and he has VERY AFFORDABLE prices. Oh yes I know Dr. Fisher and I believe he is very good. In fact I often recommend him. But I don't recall him being very affordable. May I ask what you are having done and cost? Not that price is the most important consideration but I am curious because maybe I have a misperception. I look forward to your surgery updates and believe you have chosen very well! Good luck on this amazing journey!

In 24hrs these DDD will be gone , im getiing a small B cup &im soo excited i dont know what to do with myself except prepare things at waist level to prevent reaching/bending .

Im home from reduction surgery (yesterday ) got home late, anesthesia has wotn off now experienceing some pain but jot very bad ,ive only taken pain medication 3 times since yesterday which is great. I should have done this yrs ago,it feels like 50lbs off my chest no more shoulder pain i noticed that immediately

Your surgeon may supply you with garments, but you also may be able to save some money by getting them yourself.

You will need a surgical bra, ideally one with a band that goes across the top of your boobs to hold them down. And obviously one that hooks in the front. Something very sturdy with several hooks. Something like this:

Not advocating that specific bra or brand, mind you, just that style. You can also buy the stabilizer band separate, but when I did that I found that it moved around a lot. Having it actually attached to the bra was a better design.

With everything you're having done at once, you'll need pretty much a full body compression garment, or one that at least goes down to your knees or capri length. I had Lipo in my calves, so mine went all the way to my ankles. I HIGHLY recommend something that has fasteners all the way down the sides. My first garment went on kind of like pants and then only had fasteners from about my hips up. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get into and out of. It was literally a 3-person job getting me into that thing! When I got a lighter garment a few weeks post-op, I got one where the fasteners went all the way down to my knees and it was MUCH easier. Make sure you get one with a very large whole in the private region that you can put your underwear on over top of. That way you only have to take down your underwear to use the bathroom, not the whole garment. Oh! Get one that has shoulder straps so you don't have to worry about it sliding down.

Make sure you ask your surgeon about whether they think you should get something that goes below the knee. I think the type of thigh lift you are having doesn't have the incision down the inside of the inner thigh, right? If not, then knee length is probably fine.

For sizing, you want/need it to be TIGHT, but remember, there will be a lot of swelling.

Anyone having breast reduction /lift i have found that large nursing pads we ork wondersinside surgical bra &nipple areas ,i bought (NUK )brand gor $6 at Walmart get the (large ) they cover lots more plus i lined inner perimeter where incision was madekeeps from becoming irritation/itching.

      So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

        It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

      I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

        I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

      How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

        Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

        I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

        I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

        I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

      Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again. 
      I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent. 
      I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

      Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
      For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
      For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
      Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
      Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
      It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
