Recommended Posts

I'm glad you have a supportive team to help you out! I'm dreading telling my doc...I feel like she's not going to be happy but oh well. You're doing great with your weight loss...I lost part of mine before surgery so more like 70+ pounds in 6 months. Keep in touch ...I'd like to know how everything is going with you since we are both December moms!

Hey all! Just wanted to share my experience with you. My youngest daughter was just born 4/14/15. I had the sleeve surgery march 18 of 2014 and found out after losing 70+ lbs and 4 months later i was pregnant!!! I had severe morning sickness that turned into hyperemesis graviderum and could keep much of anything down until close to 20 weeks pregnant. I was givin iv fluids for dehydration 3 times. I didnt gain any weight with this pregnancy i actually lost 25 lbs while pregnant. My baby did not suffer from my weight loss as she got everything she needed from me. She was born weighing 7 lbs 5 oz and was completely healthy! She is now 13 days old and is breastfeeding with no issues. My milk came in 3 days after birth and have had no problems with making enough milk. My oldest is 6 and was well bef re my surgery but then i was diagnosed with pcos after 3 years of ttc to no evail. This is my miracle baby although i feel my weight was solely responsible for my secondary infertility. Day of surgery i weighed in at 322 lbs and today i weigh 214. Still trying to lose a few more now. Good luck everyone with your pregnancies!!

Thank you for sharing your story. It made me feel so much better. I was worried about being able to breastfeed.

Hey, Ladies I am 8 months out from Gastric Sleeve surgery and just found out I am pregnant 6 wks now I don't go to the OBGYN until 5/27/15 and then I check in with my WLS surgeron on 6/1/15. I stopped by his office today only to pick up paperwork to give to the OBGYN. I have to admit this was unplanned and with PCOS I thought I'd never get pregnant, so I am looking at this as a blessing. How are you guys doing? I'm nervous and anxious.

Congratulations, everyone!

I'm almost 4 months post-op and am 7 weeks pregnant. Am balancing pure elation and terror almost daily. :) Though welcomed, this is a surprise for my husband and I. We sought fertility treatment for years and were blessed with a child who is now almost four. We accepted never having another, especially with a few miscarriages. Just had to let it go, ya know?

I met with my surgeon last week and he was happy for me. He said the biggest struggle he could foresee would be cravings because the part of my stomach responsible for that should not work like normal. ??? But he also said it's case by case. Meeting with the OB on June 11.

I'm really struggling with getting my Protein in. Pure Protein Bars are the only thing that seem to settle in the mornings. Yogurt, string cheese or any meat don't fly. I'm more concerned with snacking... I'm hungry between meals and just before bed. I've been trying to satisfy with an ounce of peanuts or almonds or pistacchios.

Is anyone else struggling with a break in the normal post surgery diet/routine? I'm continuing to work out three times a week and walk, but am not getting enough Water in daily.

Thanks! Have a happy day!

Hello all, i'm currently 25 weeks pregnant (just started my 7th month, 3rd trimester in 2 weeks!!) and i am 20 months post-op. I was 14 months post op when i got pregnant.

I had lost 150lbs. To date i have gained 9lbs. I'm right on track to gain only 15-25 lbs. aiming for 15-20.

Baby is doing great. I had an emergency gallbladder removal surgery at 16 weeks, presumably because of the strain of excessive weight loss AND being pregnant which both on their own can cause major gallstones to form, which they did.

Other than that pregnancy has been super easy and happy. No complaints. I have a cute belly but haven't gained anywhere else.. Legs, face, arms all look the same which i never in my wildest dreams thought would ever happen (i always assumed i'd blow up like a balloon).

My doctor does not consider me high risk and my VSG hasnt effected my pregnancy in any negative way.

Im 29 and this is my first child.

Questions welcome. Congrats to everyone!

Did you have any other symptoms while u was pregnant? I am 3 months pregnant now and is 18 months post op. I have had severe nausea, very weak, now everytime I eat I feel disgusted and bloated. I have a new symptom of short of breathe but it was been getting worse.

Congrats to everyone on the pregnancies and hope you are all doing well, I am currently 20 months post op and nearly 30 weeks pregnant. This is my 3rd child, but my first post op. Im feeling ok, just the normal pregnancy woes. It def took me some time to adjust to thought of gaining weight. and I find it quite strange to have that hunger feeling again since I spent pretty much all of the time before that not feeling hungry at all. Ive put on about 30 lbs thus far. Im going to try not to worry about it for now and just enjoy this ride! I am due October3rd

Hi Ladies just checking in. I haven't been here in a while, the pregnancy has been hard for me, this is my first, constant vomiting and now I'm fainting. I go today to meet with a diabetic counselor at my high risk doctors office, because of the fainting, low blood sugar, low blood pressure and they don't want me to slip in a coma that's how bad my glucose tolerance test was. So far I've gained 2 pounds after losing 15 pounds after finding out I was pregnant. They want me to gain weight I'm currently at 217 pounds. The baby weighs 2 lbs and 6oz at 26 weeks he is doing great based on all their tests. How is everyone else? post-181017-14424730061566_thumb.jpg

Hi! Congratulations to all the expectant mommies and great job on your weight loss. I am a month pre op and I'm 35 years old. I have two children ages 15 and 4, but my husband and I have been thinks about trying for a third about a year after surgery. It would be our second together. I am a lower BMI (37) with no comorbidities, and I am hoping to lose 70lbs. I hope you all have experienced that weight loss after pregnancy is not an issue. It just takes some time and strength training exercise to tone up after the pregnancy. I am more concerned with a healthy pregnancy later in life and with a restricted ability to eat. If anyone has a postpartum update please share it, because you would be giving me lots of hope. Best wishes! Xoxo

Hi Denise.saad82! I am about 4 years post op and having my first baby I've gained 30 lbs so far I'm about 31 weeks. My biggest concern is were you able to lose weight while breastfeeding? If not did the weight come off easily after? Anyone with experience with weight loss after the baby? Seems like everyone has been struggling, my pre pregnancy was 135 and I want to easily get back down to that If not lower. Anyone have a positive experience where they went below pre pregnancy after the baby with breastfeeding? Look forward to hearing others responses!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
