That's what everyone keeps saying! They say I'm too hard on myself. But yes as long as it's going down I should be happy! Wow 20 day stall. I'd be going batty! It is a testament as to how the clothes are fitting. It's nice isn't it :-)

I was skyping with my son this morning. Usually he only sees my face as I'm sitting at my desk. I had to get up to do a quick load of laundry and he freaked. Even though it doesn't seem like a lot to me...he made a comment to the effect that I'm really looking slimmer. I don't know how slim 368 pounds looks...but compared to 455...I guess it's noticeable...lol I'll take what I can get. Remember....we don't see what other people do. My brain still sees a very obese person staring back. I am...but almost 100 pounds down...everyone sees it but me. Don't be hard on yourself. Embrace every little thing you can...:)

@@Velocity that is awesome! Almost 100 down. Good for you :-)

I have some of the same struggles as you've mentioned. My surgeon said it can take a couple years for the brain to catch up to the body.

Yes, I shall try and embrace the little things, which really are big things! :-)

The Tribe has Spoken....It's time for me to go. Damnit all anyway. Ileus and vomiting blood for the first five days after surgery. I think I might get to go home today. Can I have a do over and come back when I'm complication free?

@@Martene81, I'm in the same position as you. Op booked for 14th May but I've still to decide which one. I initially wanted the sleeve but I have GERD / acid reflux so the surgeon recommends bypass. I'm interested to know what did you decide on and why?

The sleeve doesn't worry me but the bypass does - the re plumbing, the Vitamin deficiency, etc etc. Any one else here been through the same dilemma? It would be great to hear from you :)

@@losing-it I have decided to go with the Bypass. The decision was hard but I prayed and feel it's the best procedure for me. I was leaning toward the sleeve at first because it's what's popular and what everyone is going with these days. My surgeon, pcp and endo all recommended the bypass but I was fighting hard against it. I finally gave my fears to God and trust I'll have a complication free procedure and smooth recovery.

My main purpose for this surgery is to get healthy and get a significant amount of weight off. Although the sleeve is popular I'd have a better chance at that with the bypass. Both are great procedures but I think it comes down to your habits. I've found that with the sleeve at about 6 months out most report that they can eat whatever they want (in small portions) and begin to struggle to get remaining weight off and fight regain. It seems that what they then have to do to get the weight off, sounds a lot like what someone without surgery would do to lose weight.

Now don't get me wrong I'm ready to work my tool but let's face it, why am I getting this surgery (tool) if I eventullay have to fight has though I have no weapons. I'm sure there may come a point where people with the bypass feel as though they have no tool but I think if or when that happens I will have surpassed my goal.

Sorry for the long post but that's how I looked at things when I decided...that added with the awesome words of encouragement from @@MisforMimi and others helped as well. With Gods grace I know I'll be fine and despite what everyone says and feels about the bypass, I'm not going to let those fears get in the way of me having a happy and healthy life. Good luck and hope you decide what you feel is best for you ????

I'm booked for May 27th!

@@Martene81 I totally get where you're coming from and understand how you feel. I've gone from being convinced about sleeve, then bypass, then sleeve again. I have about 100 lbs to loose so it would be terrible to get half way down and start to struggle, however I'm a bit scared about the op and I've also been thinking maybe I'm scared enough to try losing it naturally again. I know that won't work, so that brings me back to the sleeve........I'm going to a support group on Monday to speak to other pre ops and post ops too and I have a date to speak to the surgeon again before the op. It's such a hard choice! My family, the consultant nutritionalist and the specialist nurse (at first) all prefer the sleeve, but the surgeon thinks bypass. I need to decide by the 8th May - gonna have no nails left!!!

I had GBP on 8/5/2014. Other than having to learn a few simple things like what I am u able to tolerate, that bite number 10 is too much- I feel I have done pretty well. Right after surgery I had hard time keeping anything down- thought I had a structure- but after a few more weeks of healing it has been gravy.. Only complaint I have is the hair loss.. Have always had VERY thick hair- now it's half as thick as it used to be!

No complications so farm I had gbp on 4/15/15. I'm feeling great. I'm ready to start really exercising. I ran into a woman at my 1 week check. She asked when I was having my surgery. I told her I was 1 week post op. She said she was 2 weeks post op. She looked like I felt a day after surgery. I feel fantastic. Eating is going well, weight loss is slowing a bit but going well, walking a lot. No pain. I was back at work a week later. It couldn't have gone better!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
