I love those salmon patties!!! I used to buy them an put them on bread. I am on pureed/mushy foods now. I wonder if they are okay for me to eat. I'm getting tired of creamy soups! Lol

I'm gonna look for those chicken skewers next week. They have some pretty good chicken meatballs there too. I'm not sure of the nutrition info though.

This is a great topic! Thank you CowGirlJane especially for the pictures with the nutritional values! Since costco is less than 2 miles from my house we go often, but I must say not as often as pre-surgery. It's great to have new food sources to check out.

Since I'm only about 5 weeks post op can any of you tell me how you gauge what's a good thing (nutritional wise) to eat? Are you checking fat per serving and if so where do you try to keep the fat grams at. Of course the Protein is the main thing I'm looking at right now and these were super ideas! Do you worry about fillers? Like in the chicken Patties, Crab Cakes or the Smoked Sausage??

I wish they would bring EggBeaters back, they have the Kirkland Egg whites but they aren't the same.

Message me if you want me to.

I want some korean people jerky! They don't have it at mine. Who wants to mail me some??

I hesitate to suggest any of my"foods" for people only weeks out. I wma 3 years post op and its a whole different situation.

Again, I think use caution as my eating needs are way different then the first months post op.

I read labels. The sausage, salmon etc. are actually quite wholesome. I don't worry about fat but most of these are low to moderate. My focus is Protein and carbs and quality of food.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I found and bought the chicken skewers (Yummy) and the chicken salad in the cups, (Good Stuff and easy), and the Chicken stuffed patties. I haven't had time to try those yet. I also miss the egg beaters. I like egg whites but the one's at costco taste funny so now I just buy my egg beaters at the grocery store. On my next stop I'll grab the salmon. It's just sooo much food for just me. My fridge and freezer are over flowing. I wish someone lived close so could split my haul.

I ordered it directly from Golden Island today for only $12 a bag. It's free shipping, too! Can't wait to try it.

Just made a costco run for some Premier Protein, but as everyone knows you can't just go to Costco and not

fill the whole cart (at least i can't). I found a couple of things that are helping me through the mushy phase:

1.Basil Pesto Tilapia- 3.6 oz portions (perfect size)

120 calories

Fat 5g

Carbs 1g

Protein 18g

Cooks in 12 minutes

2.Turkey Meatballs- 3 meatballs (Foster Farms)

160 calories

Sorry (posted before I finished:

Turkey Meatballs-Foster Farms (3 meatballs)

160 calories

Fat 9g

Carbs 3g

Protein 18g

Few minutes in the microwave

Both were delicious and very easy and quick...

Does BJs wholesale club compare? The salmon and turkey meatballs sound great.

We don't have BJ Market...I live near Kirkland, the home of Costco!

When I started this thread I was focused on Protein but I love their produce too. Love the blueberry, raspberry or strawberry boxes. Also avocado, Tomato ... you can g e t a six pack of romaine lettuce for 3.49. Did you know romaine is heavenly grilled?

I just stopped at costco this weekend and picked up a few things.

bai5 variety pack of drinks. These are a great price. About 1.20-ish(?) per bottle. (I am doing math in my head, very dangerous!) Anywhere else they're AT LEAST 2 bucks a bottle, so this is a great deal.

And this was my greatest costco find yet. Sabatino's Roasted Garlic & Basil chicken Meatballs with Mozzarella. They're 140 calories for 3 meatballs (which is about all I can fit into my stomach!) and 16 grams of protein! They are already fully cooked (refrigerated) and come in a pack of 50. (2 packs of 25.) I froze one pack and browned the other pack for lunches this week and spaghetti night on Tuesday. (My parents will have them with spaghetti noodles but I'll just have three meatballs and be happy.) I have been craving meatballs for some reason and these really hit the spot. The only trouble is the sodium content. There is a picture of the package and all the nutrition info at fooducate here.

I'm really starting to appreciate Costco now that I have become more familiar with the store since joining a couple of months ago. One thing I love is they always seem to have lamb and their boneless leg of lamb is a really simple way to cook and serve it - no bones to deal with. We butterfly it, do a rub on the inside, then roll and tie it, then do a rub on the outside. Sear it, then roast it in the oven. Yum yum. Their lamb chops were amazing too. I haven't tried any of the others.

The other thing I LOVE is their Steelhead trout which they always seem to have as well. It is red in color like salmon but is actually a sea-run rainbow trout. We used to eat this ALL THE TIME in Pennsylvania but since moving to Virginia over 10 years ago we could hardly ever find it in any stores. Costco to the rescue apparently!

One other reason to love Costco is that they pay their employees a living wage! Their average employee makes something like $20.00 / hour!

@@heynowkc Thanks so much for the link to Fooducate, I'd not seen that site before and I think it will fast become a favorite. I love this thread since we are avid costco shoppers and are there often.

Me too. Definitely given me some great ideas for what to look out for. I really want to try their avocados next since they're supposed to be so good.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
