I got sleeved 12/24 and lost 30lbs in the first 3.5 weeks but I'm now 6 weeks out and have barely lost a pound since then with the scale going up and down between 254 and 258. Part of me is hoping it's something as simple as the scale being broken

Wow 30 pounds! That's great! I was sleeved 12/16, so it's been 7 weeks and I've lost 21 pounds. I stalled at week 2 and week 4 post op. It's just how my body is reacting to all these changes.

if you're at week 6 and this is your first stall, you're doing better than most. Keep with your program and the scale will start moving again. My first stall lasted 10 days at week 3. My 2nd stall at 6 weeks lasted 2 weeks. If it goes past that, try changing calorie intake (could go up or down), increase Protein, and possibly add more exercise if you're cleared for that. And definitely talk to your doc or NUT if you get the chance. This is just your body's way of getting a feel for the new regime. If you stick with it, the scale will move again. Good luck, I know it can be frustrating and aggravating and even depressing. You'll get through it.

stalls aren't fun my first, the dreaded 3-week stall was 6 days long and drove me nuts but when it broke it was nice. i just beat a 4-day stall this morning. They happen. i recommend , that if you tok measurements before surgery that you re-measure your self now. you will see that many times, even though the weight isnt changing, your body is. Keep at it.

I was sleeved on 12/22 and hit my first stall at about 3.5 weeks out.

It lasted a little over a week before I realized that I was eating too many carbs. Cut them back to less than 50 a day and the scale started moving again. (This may have been a coincidence, but I'll take it.)

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Thanks guys I think I just needed reassurance that it's normal. It started at week 3 and sort of broke at week 5 but it's still frustrating :/

I'm not getting in anywhere near 50 carbs a day. I think that might be my problem not enough calories.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
