    • Yes, but nothing serious. I just had some stomach issues.

    • Yes, somehow I developed some nutrient deficiencies. See below for which ones I had and how I fixed them or whether I’m still dealing with them.

@@Mommabird - sounds like a latex allergy. I break out in a rash every time I get any bandage put on. I now remove them ASAP or ask the to cover wounds with bandages. Non latex bandages don't work because there is a small amount of latex in the glue and if you are super sensitive that will break you out.

I voted yes, back in hospital. To clarify-

2006 Lap-Band 2006, slip before I left hospital and had to have 2nd surgery to replace band. Never felt OK from that day on, lots of pain and nausea. Lap band did not work for me.

Jan 13 2015 Lap Band revision to sleeve. No problems so far. Some dehydration. Feel much better than lap band surgery. Recovery so far much easier.

My opinion- lap band works for many but not all. And from what I understand there is no way to determine that before hand who the lap band will work for. (may be the same for all WLS) I have always had a sensitive stomach and the lap and just never felt right. The lap-band is gone for me now and that tightness and nausea in by belly is gone.

Yes, had major complications consisting of severe long term nutritional deficiencies and multiple ulcer perfs, multiple times. Had a straight takedown at almost 9 years status post rny, as a result.....

No, I'm doing great at 4 weeks post op! Energy still isn't at 100% but it's daily improving. At 3 weeks post op I was able to stop both my high blood pressure pills. My bp today at the surgeons office was 118/78 :-) Excited to continue on my journey!

I voted "other" but at this point my complications seem too minor to mention. They discovered h pylori during the gastric sleeve surgery that did not show up during pre-op testing. My surgeon ordered me to take two different antibiotics to treat the h pylori and that resulted in a pretty bad case of nausea. I couldn't drink much for over a week (I was in the full liquid phase) and became very dehydrated. After I put my foot down and stopped taking the antibiotics, things got better. (I was able to restart the antibiotic treatment at four months post surgery with no problem.) The other problem is not really from the surgery but from the change in diet -- I am chronically constipated.

I had a lot of post op pain. The Protein Shakes that were so delicious before sugery made me gag when I smelled them post op. I developed food aversions so intense that I couldn't get nearly enough Vitamins and minerals. It delayed healing and made the pain go on longer than otherwise would have occured. It took several months to get that resolved...and working on the emotional/psycological issues that exacerbated the problem.

I had internal bleeding due to an errant shot of Lovonox. It caused a hemorrhage on my right side. It put me in the hospital for 5 days. The sleeve though was perfect with no complications. I am down 60 lbs with 40 of that coming after surgery on Dec 30th. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

3 months post RNY: Nope, did great. My only complication was Constipation and it was the worst part of my surgery. Wish I had gotten in front of that. I still take a Peri-Colace everyday and lots of other stuff to be sure. Drinking enough is always a struggle.

Would do it over again in a heartbeat.

I had complications after band surgery in 2008 - had a slip less than a year out after losing about 70 pounds. Had surgery to revise the slip in 2009, and still suffered from continued serious (really awful) night reflux after the revision which was not relieved until my band was completely unfilled (gained all weight lost over the following 5 years plus a few). Had sleeve surgery in June and had no complications whatsoever. Down 98 pounds as of today. SO happy with my sleeve!!

6 months after my RNY I had a serious complication of a huge hernia and my intestines twisted up and choking off my lil pouch. I had it repaired.

However, from that point on I still have trouble reaching the calories I need. So this past mid December I was checked internally. Nothing found, but my surgeon put a gastric feeding tube in me to help me reach my daily calorie an Protein goals. Here I am in February and now 18 months out and it is slowly getting better but I still need this support until I can consistently eat on my own without trouble. By the way I have a lot of food sensitivities and I have fibromyalgia, which make it really challenging at times.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
