So I can juice pineapple and be ok. I just tried to eat a piece of fresh pineapple for the anti inflammatory aspects. ???????????????? never gonna try that again.

The first time I tried chocolate after surgery, my mouth tasted as if I had just licked an ashtray. It was SO nasty. For the first time, I could actually tolerate yogurt, too. I couldn't eat bananas, a fruit I loved, because they tasted far too sweet.

Now, I like chocolate again, yogurt is the devil's work and I still haven't tried to eat a banana. No idea why. It's weird how our tastes change, then change again, and then again.

pineapple and grapes - took me almost 9 months to train Frankensleeve to love them again. And still, sometimes, he acts up when I eat pineapple.

I still have trouble with steak. I end up buying the cube steak for myself to broil or BBQ if we happen to be having like sirloins or rib eyes or something like that because it just seems to go down easier. Those other cuts just don't sit well in the sleeve. Which is too bad, because pre surgery, I LOVED me some steak!

I love steak. Now, when I have the urge, I eat really rare filet or I buy seasoned roast beef and make a hot steak and cheese sandwich without the bread. :)

Peanuts are the devil's food; one of them and the nausea is through the roof. I miss it so much!!

14 months out....the only food issue is rice. Everything else is fine. The one time I ate it in the last year t felt like I swallowed a bowling ball. That was the end of that experiment! Thankfully it is a food I choose not to eat along with Pasta, potatoes and bread.< /p>

bread - no desire really but the few times I've consumed it hasn't felt great in the tummy. Brocolli makes me sick. Whip cream - makes my stomach hurt. I couldn't eat apples for a long time (made me sick) but now I can. I'm a year out. I should probably eliminate coffee because I know the acid in it causes me problems.

COFFEE

i always loved the smell of my hubby's coffee

never had any desire to drink it

i love coffee now :)

i know i know, there are various "discussions" of do or do not drink coffee

well, i am a "doer"

1-2 cups a day

i drink it because i enjoy the taste :)

ALSO because it (anything hot) makes my tummy happy and full :)

I'm with you on that. I was cautioned aggressively on the evils of coffee prior to surgery. It wasn' t a big deal, I could take it or leave it. Now? I like it. My tummy likes it. I'm drinking as much as I want. Some days I don' t have any. Some days I drink 3 or 4 cups AND I put heavy cream, real sugar and real vanilla in it, too. I don' t indulge in very many things but I don' t see the point in fake foods and artificial flavors.

More than a bite or two of rice. Ow. None is better but I can nibble to taste test what I'm cooking for the rest of the family. Pasta and noodles are better but I avoid them too.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
