BMI Level When Losing Got Harder

Recommended Posts

I'm 17 pounds from my goal. My BMI is 26.7. I was losing like clockwork for months, and suddenly hit a wall. I've lost maybe 5 pounds over the last 2 months. Was there a specific BMI where it got harder for you to lose weight?

I have been stalled now for almost 5 months just 5 pounds from goal, (thinking surgery is the only way it's going to come at this point) BMI now 24.2... but the slow down started when I was 156 so 26.8 BMI

BMI in the 26's seems to be the culprit.

I think that's pretty common. The closer to goal, the harder it is to lose. I've been struggling with the last 10 pounds for a year. My dietician says that most people end up in the 26-27 range, and they think that is quite successful. I'm 52, so a BMI of 27 is actually considered normal for my age by some calculators. But it is frustrating, I'd like to see a BMI of 25 just to see how it looks and feels, even though even if I never lose another pound, I'm definitely way better off. I'm normal and probably smaller than most of the female population my age.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
