I'm four months post-op. Like others here, I was freezing up until the last month. And now in the last month I'm not.

I am eating more now (between 800 and 1000 calories/day) at the urging of my bariatric P.A. who says it's time to get my calories up. I'm also doing an aquarobics class three times a week, which kicks my ass (you wouldn't think it would, but it does).

I don't know what else I could credit the body temp change to. Any insights, fellow WLSers?

starting my 3 year and I am cold when it gets to 72 degrees I get cold. I wear an undershirt . top long sleeve shirt and then most times a sweatshirt or light jacket. I live in central Florida thank goodness winter is short here. I can't wait for me to "normalize". I have lost 120 pounds of insulation!! Not really complaining.

I've always felt cold because I'm hypothyroid but at almost two years post-op VSG, I get very cold if I'm not moving around. It's not as bad so far this winter here in Southeastern PA as last winter, which was epically nasty for this part of the country. Last winter I froze my nernies off! My hands and feet ached because of the cold. So far I'm not suffering as much as last year. I did invest in some warmer clothes and a down coat.

I have been feeling cold constantly since surgery too. I live in Vegas and being overweight I have always been hot. At first I thought because I had been given a couple of shots to avoid blood clots after surgery that this was thinning my blood and making me feel cold. But now after reading about not getting carbs for fuel it makes more sense. But I am wondering if I am going to feel cold for the rest of my life.

I had read that a lot of people feel very cold after surgery so I was aware that it might be possible. I notice that now I get cold much more quickly than before when it is actually cool out and that I have zero tolerance for chill- I start shivering and shaking. In my house though, I feel like I wear pretty much the same things I did as when I was larger, just in a smaller size, lol.

I live in Florida though, so I'm not sure if my experience is comparable to those who live in colder areas.

I never had an issue with being cold, but since surgery and now heading into winter, I'm freezing! My hands are always cold but the trade off is worth it.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
