I too am so sorry that you are having to go through so much misery, to become a healthy you. I have a esophagus gastritis, so I had to do a EGD as one of my clearance for surgery. My EGD was done on 11/18, I was told on 12/1 that my biopsy was positive for h pylori. My GI doctor order amoxicillin 500mg 4 times a day & doxycycline 100mg 2 times a day. I will be finish taking them on the 15th & my surgery is schedule for the 29th.

Hearing your ordeal had Freaked me out!!!! I just called a left a message for the bariatric nurse to call me. Wishing you a speedy recover!!!!

Sorry for all your problems. I am being treated with 3 different meds for H. Pylori now before my surgery on the 30TH. Now I am curious if this will recur again? I will ask about this on my pretest appt. Hang in there!

Maybe call your primary care doctor. They are pretty resourceful. Do you and your wife have the same surgeon? I had to go to urgent care before my surgeon would listen to me about having an infection. Their rep is everything so maybe you need another doctor to call your surgeon and say wth is going on here?

I second what @@emsgirl114 said. My PCP is treating my H. Pylori, not my bariatric surgeon. Btw, if your wife was not tested for H. Pylori, she needs to be at her next follow-up appointment. Bloodwork can detect an infection as well, not just a biopsy from an EGD.

Until you know for sure that she is free of it, avoid kissing. Not that you probably feel like it given your unrelenting nausea, but H. Pylori can be transmitted through saliva and it is possible to become reinfected. I did not realize that until my last appointment with my surgeon.

Agree w/others -- I had my h pylori test thru my PCP (was ordered by my surgeon; I'm pre-op), but my PCP did the actual "order" w/the lab. And I did a breath test for it -- you breathe into this sealed bag; drink this sweet drink (not horrible, but sicky-sweet); wait 15 minutes; breathe into bag again. Easy-peasy.

So now they stopped my antibiotics. Newest egd now showed negative for h pylori. So now I have no answers and as of noon yesterday can't get much down. Vomiting for. Even a sip of Water. I've got 3oz down since like 6pm last night until now. Sigh. I think I'm cursed like movie thinner. I'm down 50 lbs but look sickly and feel the same way of course

Maybe back things up even more and try ice chips instead. Or those sponge suckers that you dip in Water and suck on. It may keep you from getting dehydrated

Unless you have developed a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotics that you're taking, they should not be stopped. An antibiotic course of treatment has to be completed to prevent future resistance to the drugs. What kind of medicine are they practicing over there?

The fact that you are now negative for H. Pylori means that the antibiotics are doing exactly what they are designed to do. Why in the world would they advise you to do something that will actually cause you harm? I am so sorry you're going through this and I really think it is time for a second opinion, even if it is just with your PCP initially. Please. You need to speak until you are heard because your recovery is far from normal.

I honestly can't think of the words to express how sorry I am to hear this. Not sure if anyone else suggested this, sorry if this is a repeat, but have you thought of going to another bariatric doctor or your pcp for a second opinion? What you have experienced seems so in humane! I am praying for you every day.

Prayers going up & may blessings pour down.

I feel for you. I had my sleeve on 8/27/14. Did ok the first few weeks and then started with intense nausea and vomiting so back to hospital. They treated me for dehydration and released me too. Even though I was still sick. A week later I was back in the hospital...ended up having my gallbladder taken out but was still sick. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital that time. Really didn't come to any conclusions but started me on Marinol (synthetic Marijuana pills). They have actually worked wonders for me. I do still have occasional nausea but not like before. I'm slowly taking in more food and Water daily. Just thought maybe you could ask your doc about trying the Marinol...hope you feel better soon. Prayers!

You've been through so much, I think it's high time you scrapped your surgical team and find another doctor to get other opinions.

May be going back to ER tonight. Vomiting all day and only 6 Oz of fluids. My wife left message for emergency on call surgeon to call back after last vomiting bout. I'm honestly ready to give up. I can't do this anymore. My insurance won't pay for another bariatric team as that's the center of excellence. My wife's team there is great my team sucks. Since they are partners not sure if they will allow a second opinion. Each Makes rounds for the other on certain days

They stopped treatment for h pylori because I was positive on stomach removed but negative on egd done last week. So they started treating me for a positive a month ago before seeing if I had it now after removing most of stomach

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
