How long after surgery was everyone cleared to start doing ab workouts? Surgery was 10/14 and I was cleared to start jogging and lifting weights, starting at 10 pounds and increasing as I tolerated as long as it wasn't painful.

Thanks!

Karen

I was cleared for everything at 6 weeks. You're not going to hurt your stomach (the organ) by doing ab workouts, but you might irritate your incisions if you do it before 6 weeks. If you don't have any pain, then go for it- if it hurts, wait a few more days and try again. :)

I was pretty much cleared for anything - in moderation - after the first week or so. Officially, I was cleared for everything at my 1 month check-up.

Best of luck!!

Yeah I had a 2 week check up and don't go in again until 3 months. I did an upper body work out last night but forgot how much core work they do. I did VERY small movements for the core stuff. My incisions are really well healed and a couple of them you can hardly even see any more. I'll try to gradually do a little more of them!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
