I was 460 when I started my 2 week preop diet on Nov 5th. Surgery date Nov 17th I weighed 428 and 5 days postop I weigh 419. I was really scared I would have complications because I am so big. Surgery actually went great and I even got to leave the hospital a day early because I was doing so good. I feel truly blessed to have had such a wonderful surgeon and anesthesiologist. I have had very little gas pain and almost no nausea. I spent so much time preop worrying about all the things that could go wrong. If I could talk to my old self I would tell myself not to worry until there is actually something to worry about.

I can relate to your 'Holy cow, what must they think of me'... but then I realize they aren't really thinking of me at all. Because *when* I only needed to lose 10 or 20 or 50 lbs, obviously I didn't do it or I wasn't able to do it.. because now I need to lose an extra 100, in addition to that 50... and at no point in my life have I noticed someone else's weight, unless they were my patient and I was talking to them about it as part of my job.

I too thought I was gigantic at a size 10 in high school; that's my goal weight now.

I think almost all of us are screwed up about food and weight in some way or other; the very skinny, the sort of skinny, the medium, the large, the extra large, and the - wait for my doctor's words - "morbidly obese". We're just varied in how we show our issue. But we all *almost* all criticize ourselves 10 times harder than we criticize others, and we all feel our own pain and issues much more than we think anyone else feels theirs... and certainly more than *we* notice their issues.

Count me in. At my heaviest at my last pre-op appt at 414lbs, day of surgery 412. Surgery was a breeze, no pain, no nausea, no gas. Last weight check on 10/3 I was down 32lbs and doing well.

I was 448 the day of surgery. 2 years post op and my lowest has been 310. I want under 300 so bad. Currently I'm gaining. I'm 334 and feeling afraid.

But my first year was awesome! I lost 100 lbs quickly.

have you discussed what's happening with your doctor? I wonder if you may be a candidate for an additional surgery. I'm sorry that you are feeling afraid, but I can relate. I'm still fairly new to this, about 4 months post op and I've lost 47-49 lbs depending on which day I'm measuring with the scale. I seem to be stuck in this zone now for a couple months (not as frustrating as 2 years i bet) and I am constantly asking myself if maybe my verticla sleeve has stretched out or something else is going wrong.

I can't remember if I did my introduction to this thread yet so here goes.

Highest known weight 367

starting weight (at sleeve) 357

current weight 308.9-310

goal weight 160

I've been enjoying reading this thread and just want to shout out to everyone, more power to you! If they say a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, I say dudes and dudettes, you are so courageous and I admire you for taking the first step!

I started my journey at 355 lbs. my highest weight ever. I sleeved on 11/14/14 and am now at 324. I too can't wait to see the 200 mark. That will thrill me! I am having a lot of Constipation problem. I hate it. It stresses me out because I never had that struggle before. Anyone else struggling with it?

Are you taking colace? My doctor had me on it for the first month post-op. That and drinking plenty of Water kept me regular.

@ melligates I had the same issue with being very constipated and no amount of drinking helped me.. So my dr had to start me on colace and I didn't get relief from that either so he had me take a Metamucil and that worked ,I would mix it in a cup of hot tea at bedtime and morning came relief???? hope this helps. And I'm 10 months out and my weight was at 384 highest and at my surgery day I was 325 and I'm now 208 :)

@@BLERDgirl my dr had me take Miralax but I have had no luck. I am trying to add benifiber to my shakes to see if that helps. Also I took senecot two days in a row and nothing yet, that was four days ago.???? I was afraid to continue because I didn't know if it would upset my sleeve. Is colace similar to senecot?

@claudia2103 Thanks for your help. I will try that at bedtime. I would love to get relief in the morning. Is Metamucil and benifiber similar? You are such an inspiration with your weight loss!! Congrats!! I can't wait to be there!! What do you eat during the day for your meals?

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
