6 weeks post op-6 lbs down plication with band, band at zero

Recommended Posts

So when I wake up in the morning and sometimes at night, my stomach hurts, almost like there's a hole in my stomach, could be hunger pains.. A little coca cola or some goldfish seem to help. Anybody know what that feeling is?

Could be acid? Are you taking a ppi like prilosec? My surgeon had me on 40mg for the first 3 months. Now reduced to 20mg daily and she will take me off at 6 months. You can also get the 20mg over the counter.

Don't know about the hole thing, but goldfish and cocacola don't have any nutritional value.

Goldfish swallowing was an American school fad starting in the 1920s, where a live goldfish is swallowed.

You'd think there would be a little Protein in those miniature carps. Kinda like cheap sushi?

I'll go stand in the corner for the rest of the day, no replies needed.... :)

Guess nobody has felt this feeling of a hole in their stomach, the acid response could be right. It also could be hunger pains, that would be an experience I never felt before surgery! Lol

I had the band with plication about a year and a half ago. I know exactly the gnawing pain you're talking about. In the beginning, it woke me up in the middle of the night. It was like a horrible painful hunger. My doctor's office said that they heard it from others as well. The good news is, that it went away within the first couple of months. In my own mind, it felt like my folded stomach was fighting back - LOL!

As for Coca Cola? Did your doctor tell you carbonation is okay? Be careful with that one..... It can cause issues.

Ahh! I'm so glad to hear of someone else with this experience! That makes perfect sense and I had an idea it was the plication because my band is at zero and I haven't even had my first fill!

The dr suggested drinking coke that's a little more flat.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
