I had a problem with Peanut Butter post op. My surgery was April 10 when I was allowed soft foods I tried the reduced fat peanut butter to get the extra Protein. The first time it sent me running to the bathroom and the second time it just sat like in the middle of my chest for hours I couldn't sleep I hated the feeling so I won't eat it again for a while. But everyone is different.

I tolerated Peanut Butter fine, and still do. The only thing is it causes me acid reflux but I take Prilosec everyday anyway.... but if I forget and eat Peanut Butter, it's like a fire in my esophagus. That said, it's also a trigger food for me....so I have to be super careful.

I also like PB2 in shakes and frozen popsicles. But I have to stay away from regular Peanut Butter. It goes down too quickly, and is a trigger food for me as well. If I had a jar in the house, it would be gone in 3 days.

Be well…

PB2 saved me! I couldn't stand the taste of protien shakes until I discovered it!!! Now I look forward to each shake!

I usually put 2 tablespoons in my shakes which are normally about 12 oz. I will warn u not to try to eat the PB2. I made the mistake and gave into a craving for Peanut Butter and made a tablespoon of peanut butter in which I decided to eat. It hurt so bad I felt like I had swallowed rocks. Lesson learned!

Same thing happened to me. Peanut butter has been the only thing my stomach can't tolerate.

It is powdered Peanut Butter which you add Water to. I do some slices in it. Our in powdered form pit it in shakes. It's not bad!

PB2 is a powdered Peanut Butter Protein. Good source of protein without all the fat. I found it at Walmart where the peanut butter is

I used PB2 in my shakes immediately post op. Now at 4 1/2 months I add a little Water to the powder to make it normal Peanut Butter consistency and eat it with apple slices as a snack. Mmmmm.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
