Am on week two post op and can start eatting real food tomorrow. I was not given a specific amount of calories to have daily. I am always hungry and taking in way too many carbs through potatoes that are mushy and easy to get down. I do not have my first fill for two more weeks. Help!! I am so afraid of stalling my weight loss and that has happened the past 3 days. Prior that I was losing at least 3 pounds a day for a total of 35 lost. I feels stuck and confused on what and how much to eat

There are guidelines on this website somewhere...but I can't believe your doctor doesn't have something to give you :( ... mine gave us the "Big Black Book of WLS" to help guide us with each stage.

For me, carbs like potatoes are a big NO NO...maybe if you remove carbs and add Protein first, that will/should help

Let me be the one who bursts your bubble? You will never lose 3 lbs of fat a day. You may lose 3 lbs of excess fluids you've retained, but, unless you're a marathon runner, the most fat you'll lose in one day is maybe .5 lbs.

Your post is very similar to many before you. This is not a time for you to worry about losing weight. It's still a time of healing. You can only try to eat healthy foods till you get the one fill that makes the band work it's magic. Until then it's just another diet. Sorry. :(

As far as how many calories to eat a day? Not a time for you to worry about this yet. But, don't eat foods like ice cream, mac and cheese, candy. They're what we call slider foods.

And since you're a Bandster, you should post on the lap-band forum. You should also fill in your profile so we know more about you and can help you?

further.......at this phase there is considerable volume still existing the colon from a previous career of over eating....as mine was.

Not to worry, and become very aware of WHAT you eat can also drive you into more hunger.....which is a certain set up for further confusion.

As a diabetic I have foods that no matter how much I like them, they simply have to be considered Sinister Killers!

pureed and pulverized and even Protein powder, I saw a lot of such in the 'mushies before solids' phase.

Don't weaken, and don't give up, don't give in and don't give yourself harder time.

Do some more reading on the subject & in a few days you'll find a LOT of answers to what you ask.

Meanwhile, don't be hesitant about contacting YOUR Dr. and nutritionist. THEY know your needs far better, and are in a position to give personal advise.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
