I wish I was allowed cream Soups but my dr sticks with clears for 2 weeks and then creams and mush.

After your psych is done and papers are received by your dr office your papers can be submitted to insurance - then wait for the approval. Can take from days to weeks

Ok so I have my psych Eval on the 30th of this month.. And I have the appt with my surgeon on the 4th do you think the psych results will get there for the 4 of June ?

It depends on speed of your psych

I'll make sure i let him or her know I need the results before the 4th of June at the surgeons office.

Dr. Kaul did my surgery and I love him and his team. They are all wonderful. I live in Dutchess County but it was worth traveling to Westchester Medical. This surgery and recovery was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

I absolutely love the entire office. I have found their protocol and program to far surpass hang I have heard of. Do you plan on attending support group I'm June

Dr. Kaul is also my surgeon! My date is July 30th. Any advice for me? I'm excited but a little nervous. The thing that makes me nervous the most is living alone and having no one to keep my accountable. It's a lot of pressure to put on yourself.

I am in Yorktown and was sleeved on 4/27. It has taken time for my sleeve to acclimate to my body. Each day I get stronger.KMP85 I would love to meet up! I think this has been a harder journey than I imagined but I know it will get better in time.

What's it like a year out?

At this point it's amazing and challenging at the same time..

Let me explain ; I can now fit a size 5/6 jeans instead of an 18/19 and 20 sometimes , I am very confident more than ever but still remain humble , I get all types if compliment from both people I know and don't know .... I feel Great , look great and I'm completing loving the new me

The challenges : I still have a mind set that I'm a "Big Girl "even though I know I'm physically not big no where, it's a challenge to try to now maintain this image that the world puts on you but I just try to be myself , I get scare like every one else of gaining too much weight so I maintain being focused buttttt you may slip feeling so great and now realizing that it's been 3months since you've worked out lol

Bottom line is it's hard but worth it girl you'll look great and feel great just stay on top of it but don't get excessive and lastly don't be afraid to ask for help!!!

Good luck!!!

@

Dr Roslin was very nice and explained everything so I could understand. His staff at Lenox hill was so nice and made sure I was doing well before they released me. I'm over 2 yrs post op now and am 149 (6 lbs up from my 143 goal). Let me know if you have any questions about the procedure or anything! It was really hard recovery and having to give up some foods but in the end I'm so glad I did it. Everyone says I'm like a new person, physically and with regards to my confidence!

@nyteacher125. Thank you. I'm not at my ultimate goal yet but that's life and as long as I'm a few pounds off I'm not sweating it. I am a resource so feel free to ask me (and I'm sure everyone else here) questions!! Good luck on getting a date set!

I'm about the same (5'3 and started at 230). To date I'm down about 90lbs down. Right after the surgery i started going to gym and working with a trainer. The excess skin wasn't too bad. Then I hurt my back and haven't been back to gym as regularly. I'd say about 5-10 lbs of my weight are from excess skin. My insurance won't cover the surgery and it would be like 12k out of my own pocket. I'm going back to the gym which will definitely help but there's always going to be some sagging. Just definitely stick with a gym routine so the flab can turn to muscle.

Wow!! Great work! I'm thinking the surgery is a few months away so after my weigh in on Wednesday I'll be getting a trainer and working out... I tore my calf muscle about 10 days ago, these injuries sure don't help with weight loss but you don't want to make things worse... I find Summer is always a good time for weight loss... Mexico has some great deals, I love vacationing there... The thought of recovering by the beach is appealing but I don't think I would be comfortable going out of the county for a medical procedure... Keep me posted on your progress

Hey,

Had my surgery may 18th. It's been five days and I am doing just fine. (upstate New York area - Albany)

The few hours after surgery when I woke up, I had a lot of pain only because of the gas and nausea. The morphine that they give you, if you do receive morphine, makes you want to throw up everywhere. But honestly, once that 12-24 hour mark hits, you're fine.

I had the JP drain and it's the only annoying thing that is going to bother you during your post op recovery, no pain, no nausea. A little gassy from surgery still but it is totally fine. (drain is going to be taken out Thursday, the 26th {8 days after surgery})

Anyways, good luck and if anyone has any random questions, feel free to ask.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
