So my transfer from Hamilton to Toronto Western has me starting back at the beginning. I'm so frustrated. Regrouping. Refocusing.

I'm curious if those people who had success speeding up the process have any advice about calling. I don't seem to be able to get past the receptionists and promises of returned calls.

Any words of wisdom?

Since you've done so much already probably after your first appointment You can get things sped up. Remember to bring all your test results etc. After that it's really a calling game call call call to get the rest of your appointments sped up

Thanks for the encouragement. I am calling every few days and trying to get something anything! booked.

Some people who started at the same time as me have had their surgeries, which frustrates me. I'm not giving up though. I get the feeling they make this process so painful to weed out people who aren't serious. Lol I'M NOT GIVING UP! ????

You're right! I think is part of the game. Also remember that by the time it'll take you to get your surgery at TWH you'd would still be waiting for appointments in Hamilton. So chin up and keep going!

#timeforme2015, I remember feeling that way (eating all day) never thought I'd have time for anything else. It's a process alright. It took me about six weeks before I felt like I'd established a routine or rhythm.

Hang in there,

Ruth

Hi All! Apparently I joined this website a while ago but forgot about it til yesterday! My referral was Jan 2014 and I'm set for surgery April 22nd at HHRH...so I start my opti on April 1st! I probably have the normal set of emotions about now so nervous, excited and ready to go!

cherg24, you're right, emotions do run high but I didn't know what normal was. I cried like a baby the morning of my surgery. Lots of conflicting feelings. No regrets and as long as I'm careful, progress continues.

Good luck, although Opti can be challenging the first couple of days (wanted to chew on something so bad) but the Jello made it bearable. Good luck and keep us posted,

Ruth

I had my sleeve surgery Feb 2 in Red Deer, Alberta, and down 41lbs. The first 2 weeks after surgery were challenging (trying to figure out my new normal), but now I feel fantastic.

Congrats elisabeth1968!

How are you feeling now?

I had the sleeve done Feb 2, and am down 50lbs as of today! Another 30, and I am ideal.

I have been trying quinoa lately. (Boiled in Beef broth with Broccoli florets) Super high in protein!

Hi Elisabeth,

Congratulations on your surgery. I hope it went well. It was a slow process for me in that it took about 6 weeks for me to finally feel that I was in a groove and it got easier. Initially I felt that I was eating all day and it was a struggle to get my Protein and liquids in. It's been almost 6 months and I still have one Protein a day, sometimes two depending. I've been very fortunate with no dumping and can eat most everything. The downside of course, is that I must remember that this is just a tool and if I'm not careful, I can revert and put on weight or not take it off.

But I've been very content with the results. I have so much more mobility and while slow it's still coming off. At first, your foods will be trial and error. Too much sugar makes me ill and too much fat as well. So I try to eat relatively lean and sugar free.

Good luck and hope to hear about your progress.

Ruth

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
