Surgery Date - January 22, 2014 (7 weeks ago)

14cc band in place.

6 cc Fluid in band.

I have not lost weight in 7 weeks. I am hungry, I have problems controlling amounts, I don't feel any restriction. What's wrong with me? Do people feel results at this level?

I am so, so depressed after 7 weeks and so hungry, and basically zero weight loss.

Wow. 6ccs already? I am over a year out and just now have 8cc's in a 14cc band. I am getting close to the green zone but not quite. First you are ONLY 7 weeks out. You are still healing from the surgery. This is not a magic bullet that has huge, instant results. It is a process. My advice is to talk to your doctor and nutritionist and reevaluate your expectations. You will get there; not over night, but then again you didn't put the weight on over night (or even in 7 weeks.)

I feel this is where lap banders split and take a different fork in the meal...I mean, road. Some patiently wait for the green zone, meanwhile not losing or sometimes even gaining. The others basically diet during this time. Low carb or low cal, high Protein, watch portions, etc. Neither one is the right way. You have to do it your way.

You were just banded in January? Your progress is impressive. Plateaus happen. Maybe do something to jump start. Watch your calories for a few days or start exercising or increase exercise.

Your story is a familiar one. Unfortunately many of us were led to believe the journey starts right after surgery but that's just not true. Your journey will not start till you get the adjustment that gives you the satiety you need to eat less food for longer periods of time.

I've seen it where some of the lucky ones begin immediately after surgery and some who have waited a year to find the green zone or even enough restriction/satiety to limit their food intake.

It took me 3 fills/adjustments and 4 months before my journey really took off. I was in "Bandster Hell" like you for nearly 4 months and it bites. But, like a painful kidney stone, the pain and anger is all in the past now. Good luck and be patient.

What progress? :( I haven't made any at all. Yes, I was banded Jan. 22. I was very very ill, my gall bladder had me near death.

Because I was so sick, my doc put the band *in* but put ZERO Fluid in until I recovered with antibiotics, four weeks! I had my very first Fluid, 3cc's put in on February 17th.

I didn't lose, but gained 5 pounds between Feb. 17th and March 4th.

On March 4th, I had 3cc's more put in (I fought for it) for a total of 6 cc's.

I have been at 6 cc's for a week now, and am going back to get a fill/talk to the doctor/slit my throat next Tuesday March 18th.

I don't expect miracles or rapid anything, but I am so, so very depressed that I am so hungry and feel like I should have made SOME progress by now. I'm eating too much and the wrong things part of the time, but I have made a lot of adjustments too, cut out all sodas, etc.

I don't feel the band has helped me at all yet. Am I expecting way too much to hope for even a few pounds? :'(

Yes, you are expecting too much. Listen up!! Your band will not help you at all till it's adjusted properly!! This is a process that can take up to 6 months to accomplish.

If you're hungry, eat. Just try to make sure you're eating healthy foods and not slider foods or processed foods. No need to feel like you're starving.

Until you get the fill/adjustment that gives you some restriction, this is just another diet.

You may be in the group I'm in. I require a lot to feel restriction. I was depressed like you when I first got mine. My Dr wouldn't do a fill till I was six week post-op. I had to go every week the first two months of my fills. I also followed the advise of my nutritionist. I bought clear bins for the fridge and organized my food and keep it separate from everyone else's food. Sounds crazy since it's all in the same fridge, but it real helps.

I'm 5 months in 9.2cc with a 10cc band. I'm having same issues. Don't give up for some of us it just takes longer.

How are you at a 9.2cc in a 10cc band. I had my surgery in December 2013 and went in for my 2nd fill this past week. and she put in 5cc..I couldnt get anything except liquids down.So I went back in and had her take out 1cc to leave me at a 1cc. WOW..you probably cant eat anything.Impressive. Way to go!

I still eat and it goes down. Dr was surprised too. The things I shouldn't eat are the ones that give me trouble, which in my case is great for me.

NOW I'm confused. you had 5cc but couldn't eat so you had 1cc removed and it left you with 1cc? Either I don't know how to count my cc's or there's a typo...lol

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
