Me too. $15,000 soon to be spent. *sigh*! Suppose I'll save that on pies...

That's what i reakon, will save on the groceries! though it doesn't seem fair that we have to pay for it privately when the govt can save in the long run with not having to pay for hospital care if anything goes wrong with our health, one of the reasons i'm having this done is so i don't become sick with being overweight and being admitted into hospital (it properbly save 10's of thousand of dollars in the long run!!!!:clap2:

hi ALl

I managed to get the full $6000 from Southern Cross, this allowance is a one of at the discretion of the chief medical officer, I had to suppy them with my BMI, and family history that my surgeon arranged for me,

So lucky for me the mortgage is not as much:clap2:

Well I certainly agree that there should be some kind of funding available cause lets face it by having the op should prevent any other complications associated with being overweight. I must admit that I guess I am saving on the pies cause now I struggle to eat a whole pie.....too much and the pastry can be hard going to get down.

Getting back into the dating scene, well thats gotta be good news. Well I had my first experience of getting something stuck in my band. That hadn't happened before, but good old smart alec here thought she would eat a piece of nice white fresh bread - yum - what could be better aye???? Two mouthfuls and something was stuck. God I didn't know what to do with myself - desperate measures - off to the toilet and had to put my fingers down my throat - god never done that before and it was awful - YUCK!!!!!! Anyway I felt heaps better after that - certainly got a load off. So I would be thinking I might be making a wide bearth when it comes to bread now.....serves myself right really.

Hope everyone else is going good out there.

Regards

Dale

Go Angel123! I hope everything went well.

I'm 5 days away from being banded...getting nervous!

Discovered that I like the smell of vanilla shakes but not the taste. If anyone wants 13 sachets of the vanilla Optifast I'll pop them in the post. i hate to waste them but i'll throw them away otherwise.

Although I was banded in Tasmania, Australia I have been living in Hanmer Springs for 18 months. I am really glad to see some fellow NZ'ers! I thought I was the only one!

We I am back home now after two nights in hospital, I can say the procedure went very well, the major pain I had was the port pain and as the surgeon advised me it was because this is stitched to my ribs.

On wards and down wards on the scale

Hi Nuff

I was not overly ken on the vanilla shakes either but I purchased some frozen berries and added these to the vanilla and they tasted great. also when you ad the berries with only 100ml of Water put it in a pudding bowl and then into the freezer for 30 mins with some berries and eat it like a desert. this was nice also. good luck

Another one here from Hawkes Bay. I was Banded May last year, all went really well to start with then I seemed to come to a screaming halt! I have had fill after fill, 10 in an 11 band at this stage. I am not hungry, but there is really very little restriction and it is the head that needs re training! Old habits die hard.Occasionly PB but mostly have very few problems other than the realisation that I still have to diet and use the head to control as I can still go up in weight easily."They" say it takes from 1 - 3 years to re train the brain. For many the limit restriction is there early and control is easier and much faster, for some it is the way it is for me. But...still the best thing I have ever done.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
