Coming down the home stretch with Clear liquids in hand and Milk of Magnesia in the other. Tomorrow (December 31) is my surgery and I am both excited and nervous. I have been so immerse reading "The Big Book on the Gastric Sleeve" to get ready for tomorrow and to stay focused on the positives of what is about to happen and what is yet to come. I have already lost 20 lbs since starting my pre op diet of Protein shakes. I had to poke a new hole in my belt just to keep my pants up...LOL

Pack gas x strips! They help with the gas pressure and they dissolve on your tongue. A nurse friend told me and they were a life saver! Also- I figured out something really weird when I got home. May not work for everyone but hey worth a try!

My left shoulder hurt really bad from the air that had moved up. I was rubbing my shoulder and pulled it forward and it made me burp! I did this about 20 times in a row and felt so much better! So the next few days when I felt the pressure or my shoulder hurt I would pull my shoulder forward and burp a few times and feel tons better! Weird!

So take your right hand over the top of your shoulder and grab your shoulder pull it forward and it might make you burp!

I can still do it and I am 3 weeks out today

Good luck to those having the surgery today!!!

I had minimal gas. I purchased gas-ex. Did not use it. I got up and walked the hallways the minute they let me. I think that is important!!!

Positive thoughts headed your way!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
