I got tickled at the posts here, and because I was just scoping my husband's "office" which is a hoarding nightmare with a path to a chair and computer. He has presents from last year, car washing cloths, knives, etc., still in the wrappers. Socks in his drawers, not used. Next year I swear I am grabbing these items and re-wrapping them. I swear! He loves a lot of wrapped gifts so he will get them!!!! He saves every UPS and fedex box so I will re-use them too! He has shoes in the closet he has not worn, still boxed. The possibilities are endless.

I should mention 50 shirts size 3x still in packages and now he is sleeved? Trust me, he will save them in case his sleeve doesn't work. There was a time I went through a sealed box with size XL clothes and threw out his lime green polyester pants..........and XL lime green checkered shirt. He was not happy. If a shirt has holes in it it is good for cutting grass.

I have to laugh, honestly, because he is precious and I would not trade him for anything.

LOL. I ranted about mine from the time she was 10 to 20. She has been my dearest friend and support ever since. There is hope! She is now 47 years old and we have an amazing bond nothing can touch.

You probably raised her to know right from wrong so now give her a little rope and be supportive. Happy New Year!

He thinks that intimacy is a gift so he says " I got your gift later". As if that's not available every night of the week ;)

Boy's!! My husband say's the same things lol

Mine, too!! I have started asking him to get me a larger size than the last "gift" and he's stopped using that line as often. :D

I question for everyone. I am coming up on my surgery date and I am extremely excited, but I have noticed that the closer the date becomes the more vocal my boyfriend becomes about how I'm taking the "easy way out". He is also over weight, not significantly less than 20 pounds to lose. My bmi is 38 and I am trying to be proactive about my health because I am at risk of diabetes and high blood pressure. Most of my family is on board and have been supportive, notice how I said most. I can't help but wonder if WLS is going to put a dent in my "long" time relationship. Regardless of the effects it may have on my relationship I won't change my mind, I'm going to do this for me. I just want to know if anyone else has experience this problem in their relationship pre and post surgery?

My loving husband was not on board at first... Then, when we watched a few informative videos on YouTube (mostly doctors talking about the surgery- and some banded ppl) he started to warm up to the idea and then was fully supportive. Sometimes they are just expressing their fears because of ignorance, you know how most men are.... Emotional dinosaurs!! LoL

If you help him becomes more informed, so he could understand its not the "easy way out", and you put his fears at ease, I don't see WHY he wouldn't support you. And if he doesn't support you, that's more of a reason to succeed. Good luck, and we are here for your benefit AND support ;)

Do what's best for yourself & quit worrying what others think or say, this is a new lease on life for you so do it.

Think about your health issues and why you are doing this surgery. If you already have issues, think how much worse they will be in 5-10 years. I wish I had not waited until I was on 3 blood pressure medicines, 1 cholesterol medicine, Metformin, 2 asthma inhalers, and a knee replacement.

Your body is your temple, no one elses! Cheers to NEW LIFE!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
