Any January Surgery Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Wow! Look at all the people who got banded between yesterday and today. Congratulations Ladies!! You are on your way to Recovery and the next step in your journey! Take it easy for the next few days and think about YOU and how you are going to meet your goals. You went through a lot to get here, but there is still a long road ahead until you get to where you want to be.

What I love about this site is that we take good care of each other!

Thanks blueturtle for your well wishes. I am just waiting for my turn on Monday please keep me in you prayers.

Will Do Mz Eboni :)

Officially banded as of yesterday. The nausea was terrible from the anesthesia. But thankfully that subsided. I have pain where the incisions were made and I feel it as I breathe, time heals all wounds right :)

Walked multiple times. My shoulder just feels like I pulled it from the gas, no nausea. My mouth is wicked dry, feel like I can't get enough fluids in me. Glad I have an overnight, because we are getting snowed in here in PA.

Ice chips and peppermints!! They peppermints REALLY helped!!

I got the call yesterday, I'm first on the list for surgery at my location. I have to be there at 7:15 Monday morning . My doctor is going to do two procedures on me. He is banding me and placating my stomach. He says doing both surgeries is a newer thing, but should give me a little better results.

Now my nerves are really setting in. But I'm still excited to start my new life.

I can honestly say with each day I'm feeling better and the heating pad has been a lot of help. Still getting used to this liquid diet, but as long as you move the gas will move to try your best to walk!!

I'm day 4 post-op. I have to say I'm feeling okay. I still have some gas pains but not as bad and so far I've lost 9lbs.

I will be banded on Mon. Jan. 27th at 1 PM. Am getting nervous and apprehensive..I KNOW I will do good. I am so glad I am a "bariatricpal". I would not have known about the shoulder pain or that walking is the only thing that really relieves it and so many other things. I'm so afraid I will catch a cold and my surgery will be postponed. Gosh, I will be so happy when the surgery is over..

True story;;;My 7 yr old grandson (didn't even know that he knew I was going into the hospital) asked his teacher if the school could pray for me on Monday. Bless his heart, his other grandfather just passed away 2 weeks ago, and he had been in the hospital with cancer. He thought the hospital was the reason for his death. I have explained to him ... I will be with him for a long time and that the hospital visit I am taking will allow me to live a much longer and fun filled life with him..

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET TO THE HOSPITAL. ...

I checked in was brought to the same day services area. There with multiple beds and curtains to separate everyone. I was immediately given a gown to have open in the back. Took off all my clothes and put it on. I did put on my socks that I brought and then put on the paper type gripper bootie foot covers the hospital gave me. I got in bed. The nurse gave me more paperwork to fill out then we discussed what kind of surgery I was having. The surgeon came in said hello. I showed him all my medicine I am taking "you need to bring all your meds" i was concerned about what size was too big to swallow. Then the anastegologist' (sp?) Came in. At that time I said I may get sick can you give me something to keep me from being nauseous. He said yes. I was wheeled into the surgery room. That is all I remember at 7:30am. I woke about 11:20 am and was in and out sleeping. Not much pain. Once I was really awake they gave me little cups of Water. When I drank about 5 of them and was able to keep it down (no problem) I was able to go home. I had to walk to the end of the hall (no problem). I was out of there by 1pm. Hope this helps. I did not use my robe or any of the gas X until I got home. I slept in and out on my ride home. Slept for the rest of the day and even the next day. I was bloated but I took the gas x. Felt like there was something lodged under my left rib under my diaphragm. That was the most pain. Part 2 on the preceding days to come.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
