When Did You Start Really Exercising?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was sleeved 10/21 so that's 5 weeks tomorrow. I also had a hernia repair. I have had a very easy recovery, no nausea, I have no food restrictions what so ever. I have no more pain at all. I would love to add some sit ups and more strenuous excersise to my walking now that I'm feeling good. I don't go back to my dr. For a couple of weeks. Do you think it's ok or should I just do what is against my nature and be patient?

My recovery was similar to yours. I was cleared for exercise at 4 weeks and I started walking. Started out a more thorough personal training regime approximately 7 weeks post-surgery. I did not want to start out too early, hurt myself and get scared off.

How about making a call to your surgeon and asking what you can add in? Just a thought.

Best of luck to you on your journed.

Seela, I was cleared for walking and elliptical type stuff at the 4 week appointment. They told me I couldn't do sit ups or core, or lift more than 25 pounds until 6 weeks. I belong to a CrossFit box, so there's no point going back until the 6 weeks are up. The only cardio machines we have are rowing machines, also off limits until 6 weeks. And I had a hernia repair too, so I'm tending toward the cautious side on this.

Yeah, me too, it's hard because I feel really good and I want to do it before I lose the desire! But I really don't want to hurt myself so I guess I'll just wait. Better safe than sorty... it's only another week or two right?

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
