The Scale...

Recommended Posts

I'm mildly stressed about this. My old scale died and I had to replace it. I haven't weighed myself in about 3 weeks.

I bought a new scale and it has me 4lbs heavier than my old scale and 1 lb lighter than my doctors scale.

Did I gain, or was my old dying scale unreliable?

I'd go with the Dr. scale reading. There is no way to know for sure, because there is variation from one to the other in most home scales. The important thing is that you use the same one over time. Incidentally, one thing I found is that there was more variability in my scale when I weighed more. I could step on it and get a different reading 5 times in a row. Now when I get on and off, it's usually the same reading.

I only weigh in every 2-3 weeks as a rule. Going backwards was a bummer, even if the lower weight was an illusion.

How about you just take this number and move forward with it. You are doing great from what your ticker says and truth be told, no matter what, you are improving. Keep up the great work! Look at where you have come from!!!! Now that is progress!

Just keep buying scales till you get a number you like.

I had an old analog scale that I used pre op but post op I bought a good digital scale that also gives my BMI and keeps track of last few weights ( only about $30 at Walmart). I can step off it then back on and weight is exactly the same including to the tenth of a pound. Now I don't care what any other scale says as my home scale is the one I am using to actually track progress. Now all I have to fret about is dang Water fluctuation, and stalls, etc lol.

I think that is the one I just bought. It stores my stats. Shows my weight, % of fat, % of Water, and my BMI.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
