Pain in chest after swallowing

Recommended Posts

good morning..just a question for all the banders out there. I either swallowed something too fast or something too big because now I can feel discomfort . it does not hurt when swallow ...it hurts as the food goes further down. I can also feel it when I stretch and open my arms wide. I feel like something is irritated and I can feel it when I take a deep breath. Any advice?

It's hard to tell from the information you gave? Can you drink a glass of Water? Just wondering if you are stuck?

I'm a newbie, but last night I ate a small bite of chicken, but didn't chew it enough and I had some pain in my chest for a little bit. Same as you described; however, after a little bit it went away and sips of Water helped a little. I took sips to see if I was stuck. It was just a reminder to chew...chew...chew! It's part of learning to eat with your band. Hope you feel better soon!

I've had days where I feel a lump or a swollen feeling in my stoma. If it happens in the morning it will continue the entire day. I haven't had any PB episodes so I think it's from taking too big of a bite and irritating my stoma. I did try liquid ibuprofen once and I think it helped a bit with the swelling.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
