I was sleeved on the 30th Sept. I am really regretting this. I feel incapacitated due to incision pain and just over all feeling like crap. Emotionally feel like I have created a life long night mare for myself. More I read, more I wish I had not gone down this path. Just traded one set of problems for another. Really disappointed in the outcome so far, the pain I can deal with but holding my belly just to go to the bathroom? I mean I really can't go to the store doing that. So down right now....

It gets better - I promise! I also had those thoughts, as do many others, but once you are eating again and dropping weight you will feel better. I am 6 weeks out now, eating just about anything (but following my plan - Protein first, then vegies). My pain is gone, strength is back and Im throwing away clothes that are too big. Hang in there!!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having so much pain. I haven't been sleeved yet but, from what I have heard pain after the surgery is normal for at least a couple of weeks. Have you asked for a higher pain medication? I've also heard that holding a pillow on your stomach somehow helps relieve the pain. I'm sorry I couldn't be any better help. You made this choice because you didn't want to continue down the path you were previously on. You have to believe it will get better. You may be off to a rough start but you will be screaming for joy when you pass the finish line. Please keep me posted on your recovery.....even if it's slower than you imagined.

Oh sweetie, I'm sorry you're feeling bad now. But it won't last. Every day really is better than the previous. And pretty soon you'll be losing weight. The beginning is hard, I know, but it is oh so worth it.

And if you don't believe me, take a look at the pictures on here, read some of the vets' posts, and remember: pretty soon you won't have a belly to hold!

:( Sorry to hear!! Im already feeling waaaY better at 3 weeks out. Im pretty sure you'll be feeling way better in another week or so. Everyone I have personally met that has had this surgery said they would do it again in a heartbeat. Just try reminding yourself why you did this. Maybe look into activities you will be able to do in your new life! (Ie...a cruise?, plane ride somewhere, you get the idea).

Hang in there! Is this your first surgery?? The first week is really hard and I wondered what I had done. I'm 66 and now love that I did this and wish it was available when I was younger!!! It does get better! Remember, you had surgery, and it's always hard at the beginning.

You should have been notified that you would have mood swings after surgery. Your chemicals are all messed up right now. It will get better with time. As for 3 weeks out and having to hold the inceasion???? I never had that, I would check with your doctor. You can't go back so find a way to move forward and be happy with each step you take. Good luck to you.

The first two weeks felt like hell! I was soooooo regretting my decision!! Then; I started to feel a whole lot better my third week- it was like night and day! I am six weeks out now and in the pureed stage and feeling a WHOLE lot better! Sometimes I even forget I got sleeved- there's no way to prepare for this life- changing decision- I thought I was ready myself...and that first week I was crying and wondering why the hell did I do this to myself- now....I'm in a much better place...as will you :)

In the meantime I really recommend holding a pillow to your belly when going to the bathroom; it's only for a couple of days- you will be surprised by how much better you feel in a couple of weeks!

How large were the incisions? The largest is usually around 15mm, and the others are usually smaller. Or did they have to do yours as an open surgery?

I agree that even if it feels horrible right now, it will get better as your body continues to heal. I was in a ton of pain during the first week, but over time the pain went away. It might not feel like it but your pain will dissipate.

Plus, it might be a bit early to be thinking about "outcomes" when your surgery was Monday and it's not even Friday yet. Outcome is more of a long-term thing....in time you might appreciate the outcome more.

I hope you start feeling better soon. It really does improve quickly. Keep thinking about all the positive reasons you wanted the surgery and focus on that being your new reality. Internal dialogue is a powerful thing,

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
