It feels like I delivered a baby through my abdomen.

I would suggest if the incision pain is significant wear a binder to hold your core together as your muscle recovers. Glad it worked out:)

I had severe pain for a full 8 and a half weeks post op! It's not typical' date=' but it does happen. (My surgery was a bit complicated because it was a revision from a messed up lapband.) But all of a sudden a few days ago, I could walk again (without pain)! So hang in there, it's only been 5 days. It may take a few weeks for you, or you could wake up in a day or two feeling good. If the pain keeps up long term, like mine did, I would advise you to get one of those abdominal binders for after a c-section--that thing made a world of difference for me! Good luck!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Where do you get them.

The binder you can get at like rite aid cvs. If your local one does not have them a medical supply store should have them. My incision also hurt like hell. Took about 4-5 weeks not to hurt. Also realize the stitch they use to close it is one that usually hurts. It's like a cone web shape. They usually use this stitch when hey take out a chest tube. So hang in there at least we were asleep when they closed it. A chest tube pt is awake and screaming like hell!

I would call the doctor to provide them your symptoms. I had absolutely no pain on any incision, or pain what so ever post op.

Finally, someone else that has extreme post op pain. Thought I was the only one. I thought they accidently gave me the RNY cuz my pain was more than I anticipated. Much more than my lapband almost 4 yrs ago. I took my liquid Vicodin for 12 days.

Its normal for some of us. It took my dr an extra 30 minutes to dig my band outa my stomach so that what I attributed my severe pain to. The incisions didn't hurt so much as my insides did. I yelled at hubby everytime he'd drive over a speed bump the 1st week.

I promise it will get better. Just continue ur meds, sip liquids, and rest. This time next month u won't even remember the pain. I was back to n ormal in about 2 weeks.

Good luck

Weird, 2 days after I posted this the pain just went away. My abdomen isnt sore anymore but it's still a little weak. I've been walking everyday and it's been getting much better.

Oh boy...me too! My Doc told me that the sutures are really tight inside, and that is the largest of the incisions, so it takes more time to heal. I am 3 weeks post op today and I still need to hold my hand there when I go for my walks. I feel I look like Napoleon! As I continually read on this site...This too shall pass!! ;)

The pain on my big incision was there for 10 days then it started to fade away but Lord I wanted to cry every time I was going to get up from bed or my chair , it was the worst but now I'm almost a month out and doing great and free of pain enjoying my sleeve to the fullest :-)

Same thing happened to me. About 3 days after I posted, the pain got better. Now I wake up, don't feel anything until I have to cough, sneeze or twist a certain way - then whammy! Then I have to "baby" it for the rest of the day. It is so much better than it was. Now it is nagging. Last night walking, I would have to stop and push in to support the area several times to make it back home. This is the only thing that is holding me back from anything. When it really gets me is getting in and out of my car, my seat is kinda low, sport car, low. Have just stayed out of my car as much as possible.

It does and is getting better!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
