Any ideas on the best way to have a bowel movement? Foods etc.... Figure we are all adults and it is something we I'll each deal with.

Thank you in Advance

liquids and if you are a few days post op I would ask your doc. I know it was a few days for me to have a bm but if your concerned its probably better to ask and get help early than to wait.

Lots of Water, and mineral oil. You don't get cramps with it, and it lubes everything up so it just slides out, instead of having to push.

I second the milk of mag. i had never used it for that but my surgeon advised it. No cramping or discomfort- took about an hour and things went smoothly.

In case you are wondering what I DID use it for- its a great face mask or good just to dry up a solitary zit while you sleep.< /p>

Depends on how far out you are. I was sleeved at the end of May of this year and use Metamucil Psyllium Husk Fiber, but that might be too harsh if you're not far out enough. A friend suggested Miralax or Milk of Magnesia as others have mentioned.

And make sure you're meeting your Fluid goal DAILY.

I was interested in this as well! I had my last BM on Monday and then my surgery was Tuesday. I was curious to know how long it would take. I know I'm not really eating anything, but I was thinking something should still come out lol.

If you are only a few days to a few weeks out dont worry about it too much. Youre body just went thru a major calorie reduction and physical change. Its normal to go a while without one. Once youre on a more regular food basis your body will regulate and going every day to 3 days will be normal depending on what you eat. Im 5 months out anf I make sure to eat a fruit and veggies every day to try to go every day, but I still sometimes cant for 3 days or so, especially if ive had a lot of carbs

Okay, so maybe TMI, but I had my first bm. I didn't expect it to happen so soon.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
