STL sleeve scheduled 9/25

Recommended Posts

There is a woman in Dr Minkin's office who I want to strangle right now. So unhelpful and flat out rude. If I weren't so far into the process I would switch doctors.

Here was my "vent post" and the subsequent replies. Look at the very last reply and how long after it was posted. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/78438-my-new-self-saint-louis-mo-help/

Looks like they have people monitoring the boards to post good things about their program.

I had some struggles with the office staff too prior to surgery. If you look at my posts from this Spring, you'll see where I vented. Just a few weeks ago, somebody kinda went off on me in that post. I'm thinking it was somebody from the office based on their lack of profile info, no other posts, and comments that only an insider could make. I choose to bite my tongue instead of reply but was pretty offended. My experience was my experience -- I'm a reasonable person as I've been in service most of my career. Getting steamed again just thinking of that person's post.

Anyhow, sorry you are having a bad experience with somebody. Luckily, I think most of the people there are fantastic. Hope it resolves itself soon!

I'm not sure what to do. I have another consult and if I have to wait a long time and they are rude I will probably switch to another practice. I already invested my $70 to join but it's not worth it to be treated poorly.

I wish I had an answer for you. I can tell you that I'm glad I stuck with Dr Scott as I think he is really good at what he does and I've had 0 complications. I've also really enjoyed working with Erika (NUT). My experience in Des Peres Hospital during and after surgery was also top notch.

Ideally, the whole experience would be great but at the end of the day, I want the best surgeon cutting me open and great care right after surgery more than the other stuff. Keep me posted and hopefully they will turn it around for you. ;)

I want to clarify that I'm in no way bashing other surgeons as it sounds like there are other great ones in STL. When I did my research, I just felt Dr Scott was the best one for me.

Yeah I remember reading that post and she did go waayy over board!!!! That was very big of you to not respond to that crap. Loveit2012 the staff at De Paul is very nice, I haven't had my sleeve done yet but I have met with psych, NUT, and the nurse practitioner, and they were all wonderful. If you do decide to leave I would let it be known by whoever's in charge. Maybe if they see that their loosing patients behind this, they'll get it together.

So excited to find other St. Louis peeps on here!!! I'm getting sleeved Tuesday (sept 24) by Dr. Morales. I'm 3 days into my liquid diet and instead of being miserable like I thought I would be, I'm beyond excited about this new chapter. I, of course, am also scared to death, but after reading about a gazillion posts on here, I think that's pretty normal. St. Louis is about to get a whole lot sassier!! Congrats Ladies....and Gents if there are any on this thread.

I am from St Charles and was sleeved last Friday in Mexico. Unfortunately my insurance wouldn't cover it and I couldn't afford self pay in St Louis. However a friend of mine had gastric bypass about 2 months ago with Dr Morales and he is so pleased with the surgery. Best of luck to you.

I am in STL area too! (Illinois side) I am getting sleeved on 9/4 at St. Alexius! I haven't found many people on this forum in the area so I am glad to see you on here!! Good luck with your journey!

I'm in the St. Louis Area (IL side) and had my surgery in May at St. Alexius. I started with Dr. Richardson but switched to Dr. Kumaran due to insurance. They are both great. Nice to see a thread with others in the area! :D

Anyone been out to the new outlet malls? It's extremely "slim" pickings for plus size clothes.

And the Lane Bryant store was the same prices as a regular LB store.

So we go over to Torrid. I can't find ONE shirt I like that fits me and isn't see through.

I hate shopping so much. I just have a hard time imaging being able to walk into Ann Taylor and just try on any of the styles!

For the people who went to De Paul, I have questions.

I read on the web site that you have one coordinator assigned to you. I think I expected that from MNS. It's like they just expect you to know how everything works and get mad when you don't.

Also they mentioned physical therapists working with you after sugery, how does that work? Is it included in the price?

I also like that their support groups are open to anyone.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
