July sleevers please check in..

I feel the same. Dancing the same 3 pounds for 2 months. I want so bad to lose another 20 25 pounds. I find I'm eating more than usual so did I break my sleeve??

Leena I'm July 8 as well and have had the same thing happen. Feels like once I hit 189 everything slowed down. My goal is 125 and it feels so far (I'm at 166 now). I'm the same with the discipline...I need a lot more focus and I have days where I just can't eat.

I had my surgery July 29. I have been fluctuating with the SAME 3-5 lbs since December. I've been doing cardio and weight training so I upped my calories from 800 to 1000. What's everyone else doing? I'm stuck & frustrated. I'm wondering if I 'broke' my sleeve.

I don't think any of us have broken our sleeves--we're just going into a new phase where we've lost and lost and lost quite a bit of weight. Our bodies have learned to adjust to fewer calories and higher activity levels, so now, we're like skinny people--we gotta fight for every half pound.

My dietician explained it by pointing out that when I was 238 lbs, my body needed a larger number of calories even "at rest". At 158, there's 80 lbs less of me to fuel, so I need a lot fewer calories at rest. My options are either eat fewer calories (which would be tough since I'm not eating all that many nowadays!) or to move a lot more. She recommended weight resistance (hand weights, or using your body weight to do lunges, planks, pushups, etc.) since muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than fat does.

Our sleeves are still doing their jobs, you didn't break anything...we just have to work a whole lot harder now. But we can absolutely get there--even half a pound at a time, or up one pound, down a half, up three, down two. Hang in there, July sleevers!

Thank you for this post. It is encouraging to me. I was sleeved on July 1 and am down 74 lbs. I feel stuck...

As of this morning I lost 80 pounds! I was sleeved on July 15th. I went from 258 pounds squeezing into a size 24, to 177.4 and fitting into a size 16, and some size 14! Weight loss is going much slower now, but I am happy with my weight and am working on exercising to get super healthy!

I'm a July sleever too. July 30 was my date. My day of surgery weight was 296. Now I'm down to 191. I'm down 105 lbs in 7 months!! From a size 24 to a 12. I've still got 20, maybe 30, lbs to go, but I'm really happy with my progress :-) I'm just going to base my goal on how I feel after I get to 170.

Best decision I ever made!!!

On a side note, I'm having trouble with gallstones right now. Those suck! Please know the symptoms, because it's scary as heck if you have a first attack and don't know what's going on. The same surgeon is taking out my gallbladder on Monday...

My update:

Sleeved on July 31, I started at 293 and am now at 197...94 lbs lost. My goal is 160. I started at size 22-24 and am now wearing size 14 jeans. I can go smaller (medium) in some tops, but I still have unusually large hips (saddlebags) to deal with. My losses have slowed down drastically, so it's not as exciting to weigh in every morning like it was in the beginning, but there are still a couple of things that have not changed for me:

  1. The sleeve has changed my life and lifestyle.
  2. My old path toward future weight-related medical problems has been derailed.
  3. Although the sleeve is not for everyone, I am quick to share my experience with those who ask.
  4. I have absolutely NO REGRETS.

My next challenges involve the amount of skin I have collected. I have neither the money, the inclination (I'm almost 54 years old), nor the time to invest in plastics so I am trying to make the best of what I have and adjust my clothing style to minimize my bumps and bags. I visit this forum every day (although I'm pretty much of a "lurker") because I believe an integral part of our success involves interacting with others who understand what we are going through. My family and friends are so very supportive, but the community here, all of you, are the ones that totally UNDERSTAND it.

Luck to all and congrats on the successes!!!

Thank you to all for sharing. I can see that may of us face some similar challenges. We have come a long way in the last 8 months, and it might be time to change up our strategy as we work through this phase of our journey.

Thank you again for your postings, helps to know I am not alone.

I'm slowing down too.. I started drinking more Protein shakes. I've been drink green shakes with unflavored Protein powder. I found out that kale has more Protein in it than chicken and fish. And I limited process food like triscuits and wheat thin.. Anything process. I was also eating a handful of nuts everyday.. I slow down on those too..

For the month of January I recorded what I ate in fitnesspal. I was so shocked to find out that I was eating 1600 calories! So realized that I needed to slow down on foods I eliminated above. I haven't recorded my intake in awhile but going back to shakes, eating fruit, veggies and protein is working now. I lost 5 lbs since January.. I'm going to start working out again too.

Doing well and feeling great. Down 110 lbs from surgary.

Minor bump with gallstones too. Had to have surgary to remove 3 weeks ago. Only complaint I have is being gassy after gallbladder was removed! So 20 pounds from goal. Much slower now. I am happy if I go down 1 pound a week. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. :)

You lost almost one whole Olsen twin and you're getting booty-tastic, nothing wrong with any of that! ;)

I'm so inspired to see so many updates from people that had their surgery at the same time as me. I have found the last few months really challenging. I have not lost any weight for the last couple of months, which is entirely due to some bad habits coming back (with full force). I have avoided coming on here for months as I wasn't really wanting to be honest with myself. Reading your updates has given me some hope! I want to recommit myself to staying the course and changing my relationship with food and being healthy (my ultimate goal!). Thanks xx

So, I haven't really posted in here much, but I figured I should give an update. I was sleeved on July 16, 2013. My highest weight was 267, surgery weight 153 and current weight is 175. I am 5'8". My goal is 150, but I am starting to wonder if I will get there. Since surgery I have become a runner....and I LOVE IT!! I am about 2 weeks away from being able to run my first 5K! I never dreamed I would ever look or feel this way. Life is great!!!

I have also started a blog to keep track of my progress. Feel free to follow my page.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
