I do feel like I am a slow loser compared to many on here, sleeved 3/6 at 220 CW 178. It is actually over 2.5 a week so I guess it is not so bad after all. I have hit many stalls of 2 weeks or so and never really drop more than 1-2 pounds at a time. But if I did not do the surgery I know I would not have lost the way I have. I hope I can get to goal in a year but if not i will just be patient until it happens. I feel so much better and definitely know I look better. If you are a slow loser, just Celebrate what you are losing and please don't get discouraged over post where some are losing at lighting speed. I can at least say I have had no Hair loss (yet) and I am almost 5 months out. Also I will be 50 this year so I know losing slower has to help a little with the chance of less saggy skin. :)

My doctor appt was today and since my pre diet I'm down about 40 pounds mind you I'm 5 almost 6 weeks out. AND i stalled for 2 weeks. My surgeon said its less than he'd hope. I thought that was a pretty good amount! He kinda discouraged me. Apparently I'm a slow loser?

One of the best bits of advice I have received is to look at the % of EBW you have lost, not the number. While I may have "only" lost a little over 40 lbs, I am now over a third of the way to goal. As a "lightweight" with only a little over 100 lbs to lose, I know I am not going to see big dramatic losses on the scale. I am trying to enjoy the inches lost and maintain a healthy and patient mindset as I go. Good luck to all.

That's a great point. I'm also a "lightweight" and am happy with my 1-2 lbs lost every week, which it's been almost from the beginning. My surgeon spoke in terms of EBW% at my follow up, not pounds lost. It's a good standard measure when comparing progress of people starting a different weights.

My surgery was on 6/7 and with my 2 week liquid diet I have lost 34 pounds. I too am 5'6" and I was at my surgeons yesterday as well. He said my weight loss was well within the normal range and to continue what I am doing. The one good thing with slow weight loss, your skin gets a chance

to shrink some as you go. :)

Don't get discouraged that is an impressive amount of weight loss for 5 weeks out. Congrats

What is % of ebw?

Percent of excess body weight. So if you need to lose 100 pounds and you have lost 40, then you have lost 40% of excess body weight.

I also am a slow loser. I had surgery on 7/19 and have only lost 10 pound post op. right now the scale will not move. I think my major thing is liquids. Can't seem to get all the liquid I'm supposed to get. But every day I seem to get more. And my other issue is exercise. I REALLY need to jump on that band wagon. But so far pre and post surgery I've lost 32 pounds which I know if great. Just need to over this hurdle and I will be just fine.

So I am in this category. Sleeved July 5 day of surgery 244.6. Today 226.00. Started this journey at 278. I wanted it to just fall off but no dice. Oh well.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
