Well tomorrow is the day for me. I am getting sleeved first thing in the morning. I have to say that the biggest thing I am worried about is the possibility of my liver being too large to safely operate. I did follow the liquid diet fairly well. I can't say I followed it perfectly as I did eat Soup once a day which I was not supposed to. I do have to say that the liquid diet has been one of the hardest things I have ever done, but I did manage to lose 19 pounds on it. I am a little worried about pain afterwards, but I will be off of work for two weeks to recover. I am excited amd terrified as I know that my life will be totally different after tomorrow.

Hey guys! September 9th in Tijuana' date=' as mentioned before.

Update: I have been following my pre-op diet: Protein Shake AM, Protein shake lunch, light salad with some form of protein (chix, fish, etc) and a protein shake later in the evening if needed. It has been working out quite well, and I have been working out pretty damn hard. 1 hour of cardio a day (most days), but I have also been lifting some weights ---which has most likely slowed my weight loss. Should I stop that? It just feels so good to lift!!! ;D

Anyway, doing well, surgery is THIS MONDAY! I am so friggin nervous, but SO EXCITED!

I am however, a little nervous about post op liquid diet. I have noticed that Isopure is very popular, so I believe I am going to buy some today. What are all of you buying for your post op?

I hope all of you are having a beautiful morning! CHEERS :D[/quote']

I just looked at ISOPURE unflavored and the punch mix. I think I will order unflavored bc you can mix it with smoothies, juice, Water, and Soup. There is a mixture of reviews about the punch...mostly bad!

September 16th at noon! I'm really nervous because I have never had surgery before. I'm so scared of going under and then not waking up! I know it's dumb' date=' but I can't stop having major anxiety about it.[/quote']

I was worried about the same thing.. but I had to get an endoscopy for pre surgery testing.. they put me to sleep. I was super nervous, but it was the best nap ever!

I'm back, my surgery on Tuesday went very well according to Dr. Reich. 2-weeks on the pre-op diet reduced my liver's size making the operation a "breeze". Woke up in recovery without a foley and was admitted to recovery by 5 o'clock. Needless to say I was still groggy from the anesthesia and NPO. My friendly morphine drip took over pain management as the anesthesia wore off.

Wednesday morning I passed my barium swallow x-ray leak test and was granted liquids. Parched, I attacked the "broth" like a man lost in the desert - drinking too much too soon and paying the pain price. Having learned my lesson, I slowed down on the liquids to 3 oz/hr. My morphine drip was still there to take the EDGE off my pain and lull me to sleep. I also has a fast flowing saline IV pumping me full to avoid dehydration.

Thursday morning came bright and early. My friendly morphine drip and IV went back to storage and I prepared for discharge. My doctor's team briefed me on post-op meds for indigestion, nausea, and my old meds. I was ready to take my new stomach home and begin my re-training. Eventually I was able to get to sleep, using a small pillow to support my abdomen.

This morning I awoke with limited gas (CO2) pains and began day-1 of my clear liquid diet despite the growling from down below. I have started doing my walking laps to take care of the associated uncomfortable digestion that feels like my stomach is churning. No regrets and have misplaced 2-3 pounds - likely the 80% of my stomach that was removed on Tuesday.

All in all, I have no regrets, so far, in taking the leap to have a sleeve.

Note: My Doctor told me that my pre-op dieting was directly responsible for my operation being less complicated and likely to speed up my recovery!!!

It's been a bit of a struggle this last week...I'm hungry ALL the time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
